Improve defense dynamics before penalizing desertion

Most desertions come from the defending side. I believe that penalizing players for this is not the best way to go. Currently, the defense dynamics do not favor the defending side at all. The fundamental points for a good defense are engineer squads and defense points strategically positioned on the map to be defended. This is not the reality today. Many maps do not offer buildings or positioning on the map for a minimally fair defense. Some maps favor the attacking side. Regarding engineers, since the game was released, engineers have had no or almost no updates to their defensive buildings. Since the release to this day, defensive buildings have not kept up with the new weapons, new cannons, and new bombers. I believe that forcing players to stay in a match where there is no chance of success, and that will not reward them adequately for resisting until the end of the match, would force many players to abandon the game permanently.

I agree. As a general rule defenders should be told where the next capture point will be located before the current one falls, so they can prepare.

Not being able to pick if we want attack or defend is a grave mistake. I rarely like to defend it’s either a stomp for enemy team (game ends in sub 12min) or complete stalemate for 20+ mins and our boring victory where enemy team couldn’t cap anything past certain point (or not even first one)

Theres a multitude of reasons, and the map designs favour defending :shrimp: :person_shrugging:

That is true in some cases, the location of some objectives is pretty bad

Defense only really gets the advantage if they have 4 or more competent players though. And that MIGHT be 10% of matches at MOST, in my experience.

Carrying in a 1v__ match is way way way easier on the attack, and happens way more often.

I wouldn’t say it’s a rule, quite the opposite, it’s random. There are plenty of maps that benefit attacker, plenty that benefit defender, and plenty that are awful for both.
The only reliable advantage defenders have is unlimited tickets.

I like the idea of seeing locked locations for every point on the map. That would be enough, I think. Let everyone see them, that way Defense doesn’t get unfair map knowledge but does have that extra bit of prep time.

Only if your team has half a brain, if you are playing solo attacking is way easier than deffending.
