IL-2 in Moscow tankiness

I understand the IL-2 has the “flying tank” nickname but it should not be able to eat hundreds of cannon rounds unless the soviets had portable black hole technology. I like to get up close and personal with my BF-110 and cant help but feel that im only a nuisance to the enemy, I usually get ignored then promply killed.

blow his wings, works with any plane, don’t shoot the tail you just waste bullets

Bf 109 well “armoured” too. Imho, all palnes now eating MG and cannon shells with minor damage. But not italian. Once, I shooted all my IL-2 ShVAK belts on 109 without any significant damage.

try and find IL-2’s that survived 20mm holes :stuck_out_tongue:
most only survived the 7.92mm guns

this is what A 20mm-37mm can do to a plane
the plane was strafed on the airfield
imagine if it was flying

The problem with these pictures or the idea that airplanes should be less “tanky” in any video game due to how fragile they are in real life is that it is wildly easier to aim and maneuver in real life than in video games. If aircraft received adequate and fully realistic damage in Enlisted they would be toast any time they flew as low over an active battlefield as they do in game. The ease with which everything (tanks, infantry, aircraft) aims would render planes utterly pointless. As such, they have to tank damage considerably better than their real counterparts. The Enlisted devs then need to continue working to find an equilibrium in which planes aren’t too hard to shoot down, but can handle considerably more damage then irl. As far as I can tell, they’re aware of that and tweaking the damage models frequently.

It’s the same with the hurricane in Tunesia 20mm and 12.7mm nothing some 7.7mm Plane is destroyed
