If you woke up tomorrow and found out Dark Force made you their new CEO, what game changes would you make?
I would first prioritize keeping old promises. Apcs would recieve customization and custom matches would get equipment selector for an example
fix bugs and then drop new content
i would probably return old twitch drop to kinda promote the game a bit i guess? idk
To start I’d bring back “Making Enlisted A Better Place” series, at least with that there would be regular bug fixes instead of minor bugs going unfixed until a major update, or not at all
I’d put less resources to AI generated cats and more into player’s squad AI.
- Fixing bugs and correcting bad mechanics: These issues are annoying to everyone, and nobody wants to play an annoying game—although many of us put up with it (some don’t, and limit their game play—or quit playing altogether).
Although fixing bugs and correcting bad mechanics doesn’t directly bring in cash like selling a new premium squad, it does retain old customers and impress the hell out of new players when they have a good experience with a new game—thus, keeping everybody coming back for more. Happy customers mean they are more likely to spend money on the game. This is a more indirect method of generating cash; unfortunately, it’s also much more difficult to measure how successful it is since a specific product isn’t being purchased because of it—making it less attractive for companies to implement since they prefer a financial measuring stick to determine if something is working or not.
However, this is a great marketing strategy for both the company and the players: Win win! Unfortunately, some companies believe that somebody has to lose in order for them to win, so they set up win/lose scenarios with their customers. It works in the short term, but customers aren’t likely to stick around for the long-term. I think the devs have a mixture of both win/win & win/lose scenarios operating within the company. It’s up to them to decide which to discard and which to keep.
-
New content: Everybody loves new content! Unfortunately, it’s a bit over priced in this game. Again, I think more people would be willing to spend more money if prices were a bit lower—for example, for premium squads. One premium squad in this game can cost as much as purchasing a brand new game from another company—not a choice you want your customers forced into making when they have limited financial resources.
-
Advertising: To bring in more customers, additional advertising would be helpful. A various combination of different advertising mediums delivering the same message and synchronized over a specific period of time would likely bring in many new customers; however, I would not suggest executing this strategy until # 1 (above) has been completed. You don’t want to bring in new customers until old problems are fixed.
-
A voting system: Give all the players a method so they can vote regarding which game changes they want to see completed—not only for the ones they want changed, but which ones they want fixed more quickly (and which problems can wait for a later fix). That way, everybody feels that their voice is being heard.
The voting system should be in the forum for everybody to see, and the votes should be displayed in a very open manner.
Finally, proper follow-through by the development team is critical for success.
UPDATE: Thanks for the reminders GeneralBrus!
A. I would remove the gray zone, and buff the new guerrilla squads in different ways to compensate those who purchased them—or give them a full refund, if requested.
B. I would buff tanks in several different ways, which I’ve mentioned in previous posts.
I would stop the pointless Soviet bias and hire more devs to both create new maps faster and fix old bugs.
I’d start building the Death Star.
-I would double the map size
-I would make BRs ±0
-I would lower dispersion by 90%
-I would remove Tiger II H and not allow IS3 or Superpershing to happen for HA reasons
-I would add a new vehicle category of “support vehicles” which would consist of the various artillery vehicles (calliope etc) while adding mortar half tracks at low BR AND adding AA vehicles at higher BRs.
-I would give soviet body armor movement penalties while also making it more effective against pistol rounds, while in return making it completely useless against rifle rounds.
-I would massively buff solid AP post pen damage
-I would double the capture zone in size
-I would move rallies further back (100 meters from the edge of the cap zone)
-I would remove vitality perk
-I would give all semi auto guns increased rate of fire
-I would lower “all” SPGs and tank destroyers BRs
-I would add overpressure, turret shot traps, armor quality mutipliers and make armor fail after being hit multiple times
-I would make squad slots unlockable without gold, by completing each TT of each nation one would unlock one global squad slot ( to encourage grinding through all factions)
-I would buff sniper squads
-I would increase trooper squads size to 12 men
-I would remove all automatic weapons from troopers
-I would would move select fire rifles to MG gunners
-I would add ads bolt action animations
-I would massively buff the bolt cycle rate perk to make bolt actions viable even in higher BRs
-I would massively buff bombing runs to encourage pilots fighting them
-I would add a prefered map system, so we can vote which map we want to play less.
-I would add more British and Italian tanks and weapons
Great game
When Star Wars wasn’t yet a sissyfied universe
“Give it up, traitor”
“Rebel scum!”
(Pew pew pew)
Just played through Dark forces 2 recently, the add on sith temple levels were insanely well made. Creepy stuff.
Early Starwars games… It was a different time, those games will always be special to me.
Looked better than Outlaws. Grittier too. There was corpses everywhere…
Add a ping lock to each server cluster and put up a new one in Asia
And then idk
Add bipod animations and add them to the guns that need them
I really don’t have many things to bitch about with the game that isn’t just the playerbase being scummy
They fixed the thing that would get me tempted to throw shit when you’d go down stairs of step off shit and you’d drop your gun
Lower the prices of premium squads
I would immediately replace the poor guy who’s working on customization.
Conquest (the 3 cap point running sim) →
Possibly work on different matchmaker
I never answered, I had just posed the question, so here is a couple things I would do if put in charge.
-
Ask for a raise
-
Matchmaking, 0/0 or 1/1 BR ratings with NO soft rule. To be honest, I don’t have a huge issue with the 1/1, but I do when you’re punked up two levels as is BR3 allies at times. That would be a big NO NO in my reign.
-
All weapons would be recalibrated to the specs the ACTUAL WW2 gun possessed. The most widely used variant specs would be used. Experimental weapons I guess I would leave, as long as the numbers are accurate to the actual experimental model.
-
Push the grey zone further back from the actual battle zone.
-
Vastly expand maps so that there are far less frontal attack only battles.
-
Give paratroopers access to the entire map, meaning they are no longer restricted by any grey zone
-
Return the killing power of the AP mines, but maybe restrict the soldier class that can carry them. So maybe restrict them to engineers and one other class of soldier.
-
Lower the power of the melee weapon so they would have to deliver more then one blow to kill.
-
All paratrooper squads would have FULLY interchangeable weapons load outs, and add new paratrooper modified weapons like the M2 displayed below.
-
I would not add separate tech tree items for every country who had soldiers fighting, but would add uniforms to range from French, Canadian, British, Australian, Italian ect and add more weapons that each country had used or donated to the war effort. So, Allies would have options at uniforms to dress as any allied faction you choose. No Kilts…
-
No punishment for desertion, instead I would offer higher payouts and experience for the losing side, along with a 50% bonus if the game is a seal clubbing and they stayed until the end. There would have to be parameters set to what the computer would consider a seal clubbing, but far less people would leave if the game is bad and they know their time is not entirely wasted. Lets face it, as players it doesn’t cost us anything to give added incentive to be cannon fodder, since we are all fodder at one time or another.
-
All new maps. Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Saipan, Philippines, Dunkirk ect. and a couple maps for the USSR to fight the Japanese. Hell, you could even add a a Chinese squad along with Chinese resistance fighters to fight the Japanese. So, lots of ways to expand this game and help it grow.
This was also a personal issue from me
Besides that I don’t have many if none at all to complain.
