Idea on soldier clothing and equipment

could we make the soldier equipment have a effect on the soldier?

no, i don’t mean how well the soldier can camouflage within the enviroment, but rather the weight of the equipment having a effect on the soldier, for example:

-large backpack would give a large speed reduction
-small backpack would give 1 quarter speed reduction

-the radio on the soldier would give the speed reduction thats about the same as wearing the backpack

-wearing the trench coat will give a slight speed reduction compared to wearing the standard combat tunic

-the winter equipment should weigh more, making the soldier slower, whilst the summer equipment should weigh less, making the soldier faster

-overall the soldier would move slower/faster in every way if any of these things are worn

-with the equipment such as backpacks, or radios, depending on the weight it could make leaning much more unstable, essentially causing inaccuracy upon leaning fast and shooting

also, depending on the helmet the soldier wears, it could offer the soldier a better protection against shrapnel and whatnot, making the soldier less likely to get downed.

i know that the clothing option hasnt been implemented yet in all campaigns, but this idea could be considered as a potential way of making the equipment choice more important

that sounds good, but if uniform changes are implimented then people will pick the summer uniforms for a speed advantage.

Currently the weight of the equipment makes your stamina consumption faster (so you have shorter sprint distance).
Unless devs deleted this since CBT.

We can introduce a coldsnap mechanic so when you wear summer clothes in winter you get - 1HP every few seconds :stuck_out_tongue:

My Flamer guys always eat stamina quicker than my regular guys, I’d say it still works.

this is why i’d also suggest the soldier’s body display, showing if he’s wounded anywhere, indicating with bright yellow being mild, yellow being medium, orange being bad, and red being the worst.

blue for hypothermia, and dark red for heat stroke. so generally speaking you’d not get your hands easily onto that speed boost provided with summer clothes

edit: i forgot to add in the thread that the combat boots should also be a important choice:

-low ankle boots gives higher sprint speed but wont protect well against winter conditions

-high ankle boots gives lower sprint speed but protects well against winter conditions
