Gaddafi Village is worse.
D-day counter attack is extremely fun.
There are many worse maps, US mains only hate it because it sucks to be the defender on D-Day due to everyone HE slinging into the objectives.
No it’s river crossing Berlin tanks are 10x worse
River crossing sucks if yout team’s tanks can’t put a dent on the enemy armour, but otherwise its really fun and interesting.
Its probably the least favourite map Soviet mains since its the only truely open map on BR5 and while Germans prepare for both urban and open fights, soviets usually only prepare for urban since they get those 90% of time
Thats why I like to though, soviets rarely fight in the open with BR5 so it feels unique.
it sucks even worse cause every bunker has reverse entrance, so it is easy for attackers to get access to it, while defenders have to go through crappy entrances. not to mention fixed mg that become available to attackers.
overall i find d-day reverse much harder to defend than normal d-day.
Not really, you can use holes to get there. One bunker even has like 2 MGs facing to its reverse side.
There 3 bunkers overall and only 1 is somewhat problematic. Which can be easily solved by just creating another hole.
This push back D day is quite interesting map. Definitely not a “terrible” one.
still makes attackers have much easier access than defenders. also those holes can be covered by attackers from high ground usually with some fixed MG(amongst other stuff). all you need is one player capturing and all other players can easily block defenders from defending the cap.
also rally points are more problematic to build in good positions for quick access to cap. when attacking those positions are not such a problem, but when defending they are much more critical.
for me it is interesting when i am playing axis, but becomes terrible when i am playing allies.
I think the worst maps are all the pacific ones, super one sided maps. My reasons for each,
Pacific - most of those thatch/native hut points are just terrible from the buildings being destructable to the point bein in the open making it a nightmare if the enemy calls in a artillery strike or mortar men. To AI taking you out through the narrow slits windows of the huts. Then there is the trench point and no matter what ordering squads into it is pointless because the trench often too narrow and the AI decides to stand in the open. Then there is foliage you cant see through but the AI can like the Predator. Its the main reason why i’ve maxed out every faction with over 2 and a half million research points while I have the Japanese half done is the unenjoyable maps. However the western/colonial villages are fun and good.
As for one sided maps are just BS. Like the one apartment building next to theatre on Stalingrad where the doors into it are on the side the enemies spawn on and the AI can’t climb into the windows. Also the D-day one where you push them down the beach with the bunkers left unchanged.
Quarry sucks in my opinion. The objectives have no cover and tanks are greyzoning
cave village, the absolute worse
