I think the shovel needs a little rework

The reason why I’m bringing this up is that I see a huge potential on using this item and as for now its currently pointless. Hence why it is such an underrated item. Why you might ask?
It takes too much amount of time to dig one single hole and its not even a perfect one too.

Which brings us to this problem.

This is because you need to dig a “decent” hole. Therefore, you can build a rally point in it and that’s one of the reason I see in using the “Shovel”. Because the more time I spend on making a fairly decent hole the more chances of me getting shot by the enemies. Even the holes that is created by the bombing run of a bombing plane is better at making them.

Anyways, I see many great use in this item and its not really at its standard right now for a slow/fast paced game like Enlisted. You could use it for making small trenches for cover. You can also make holes for enemy tanks so they can’t pass through. I know there is a thing called Czech Hedgehogs(tank roadblock) but the enemy can destroy those roadblocks and the holes they can’t be fill. Plus if the exact squad does not have a engineer they could use the shovel. Lets just say the shovel could be an alternative way for it.

What I want to suggest on the rework of the “shovel”:

  1. Increasing the amount of ground the Player’ is digging.
  2. or increasing the speed of digging.
  3. Or maybe add both but with a keybind to separate the dig style. If the player choose to dig a bigger hole it will take a bit more time, but if the player chooses to dig faster the dig amount should be smaller.

Shovels need to be their own equipment piece, it sucks as melee and I would rather have a knife or axe. Plus I wanna run axe and shovel for my engineers.

Did you try them in normandy? there the diggin is faster and you can build rally points inside. And i actually did some anti tanks trenches and they work great.

agreed… i usually equip them on soldiers that have guns with bayonet…

still suffers from uneven bottom… you cant place rally point without lot of effort. sometimes you can get lucky, but sometimes it is a chore…
