They’re not beginners, they’re just clueless people who mixed up BR3-5 stuff with BR1 tank.
There’s no protection against stupidity yet.

to be fair the game does quite shtty job informing what certain equipment selections leads to.

If tank battles with enemy tanks are not a consideration, lower tier tanks may have advantages.
For example, they are more nimble than heavy tanks, and that can be useful if they are dedicated to a role like machine gun support for friendly infantry.
Also, even in BR5, Pumas etc. can be active with their foot speed and can destroy US Tier 4+ tanks if they can flank them.
They can be destroyed in a single blow by a Panzerfaust, etc., but he may be the guy who would rather respawn with another unit immediately than survive with a tank that has lost most of its crew and half its fighting strength.
He could be a player who is quite adept at this, or he could simply be someone who put a pz II in the BR5 deck by mistake.

Yeah, I still don’t understand why the game doesn’t show you the BR of each item when you look at tech trees, instead you have icons of much lesser importance there. For example if you get a squad with specific item or not, etc.
I guess adding BR icons like this to tech tree is too hard for them. 
That’s exactly why there are still people who thinks tier = BR.

I have had my Jumbo destroyed by a skilled Puma in the Legacy version and my Tiger E destroyed by Stuart.

Exactly, nor a small popup that informs equipping this will put you in higher tier battles wouldnt hurt.
Just add option to it “Never show this again” for more seasoned people that know what theyr doing.
Took a while to get hold of squads as well, especiatly planes.
2 squads that can have same planes such as 109g10/14 only differency being that the other squad could use both of those and had upgrade tree for rest of fighters as well.
What was bit of misleading here was the fact that they had a plan for squads to have BR as well.
Apparently that idea was ditched at somepoint, so while selecting fighter squad the worse option with only 2 fighters had BR IV as it had g10? selected.
The other was BR2 or something crappy like that regardless it had by far better upgrade tree for rest of fighters

I think the guy with Panzer 2 had one of his tanker equipped with a br 5 weapon and that’s how he ended up in br 5. Maybe a gold order br 5.

The guy probably ended up in High BR with a useless tank due to his own stupidity.
But I still believe that new players need better protection, BR1 shouldn’t face BR3.

Very probable, with Para Event, you could get a GO for weapons pretty early. Probably went to shop, saw Conders, thought “it looks funny” and gave it to tanker or medic, and that’s how he got there.
