I was just in a game where my side had 10 players and the other side had 12 players. Of those 12 players they had 5 generals or higher.
On my side we had 2 marshals and 2 general and the rest were noobs.
Of course, our side got owned. Nothing we could do as the enemy could destroy any player on our side anytime, anywhere.
This just encourages desertion when you see so many unbalanced matches.
Rank means nothing.
Even bots are marshal.
Biggest problem is that many of those 22 players were not human but bots.
There is no matchmaker, players are just put into matches willy nilly which is why you get pacific matches where there’s 10 players on the allies and 2 on the axis. Rank, skill and campaign progress means nothing, just who happens to be queued at the same time as you. It’s honestly pretty mind boggling a basic matchmaker hasn’t been introduced that’d at least keep players on each team even
There is some kinds of matchmaking. You can feel it. It try to put you to a more “intense” match, and matching with some near ranks/levels of players.
I tried switching different matches at a short period by instant quits to test this. In more played Moscow, it tends to create a match full of higher ranks players, while some matches full of new players. In extreme unbalanced campaign like Tunis and Pacific, weaker sides will have longer waiting time to group enough players for one match. And game even straight up ignore your server selection to do it. While leaving some match’s stronger team having an entire PVP match.
Also dev tried to fool you by: If one side has a general rank human player, the other side’s auto filled bot will try to match his rank.
But due to ZERO limitation on player count balance – a basic FPS or almost every PVP games features for balancing. Obviously in certain time and server, some factions would have overwhelming players. Causing extreme unbalanced match.
I don’t know if this falls under the category of “matchmaking” perhaps, but I’ve noticed if my buddies and I go into a campaign with low tier gear, like none of our squads have anything high (campaign) level, we get put in against similar tier players. So starting out in a campaign, we rarely have to deal with anything high level. However, as we progress, it puts us in with stronger enemies as well.
So in that regard, its not matchmaking according to marshal/general/etc, but according to gear. This was our experience at least.
Same, i wish they’d do separated rank system for each fraction/each campaign, so that you’d know what gear other players has
Game will “try” to do this. But this only works in much balanced campaign like Moscow.
In Tunis, Pacific, EEU, GMT+8 3PM~10PM. Balance is extreme breaking due to playerbase is extreme unbalanced.
Literally PVE.
In short: MM wants to create matches as fast as possible.
Hint: A.I. disguised as human players. Don’t believe what you’re seeing on the scoreboard.
Simple trick to distinguish ai from players is using tab before match starts.
