This map does not feel like a Huertegen map. Its more of a light Forest-Winter battle map.
It is far too open. Feels one of those Russian maps with US/Germans instead of Russian/Germans. Airplanes will have a field day (which were not effective during the battle because of weather/terrain) and most effective for interdiction of reserves (beyond the scope of the game).
The Huertegen should be heavily forested- there were also a lot of managed trees areas (trees in line) and areas where there was not a lot of underbrush but tall trees, firebreaks, etc.
Why not model the Kall trail or one of the towns (like Vossenach or Schmidt) ? That would feel more like the battle.
What is the fascination lately with large open objective areas ?
Start with a part of the Siegfried line (tanks traps and bunkers), transition to some managed wooded areas/firebreaks with wood bunkers transitioning to a narrow trail across a small flat stream to a small town then back into a forested hillside.
The objectives can be Siegfried line, wood bunkers, two buildings in the town, and the final ridge line.
What do you expect? These developers believe that the Hürtgen Forest lies in the Ardennes. Lmfao. The Hürtgen Forest was and is a dense, dark forest. The map needs a lot more fir and spruce trees. The whole thing needs to be darker and more threatening. There is a need for mg nests and bunkers. And above all, countless impact craters from artillery shells.
