How's it going in New Georgia?

I’m curious about collective impressions on the new map, particularly the “airfield invasion” (is it?) mission. The one whose first cap is at the large stilt house, and the second cap inside the wrecked ship.

I’m asking because so far I’ve played it 3-4 times (on either side), and in none of them I’ve seen the attackers (US) ever going past the 2nd cap. Not because of the ship itself, but because the 1st cap was regularly such a slaughter, that attackers either couldn’t even take it, or barely made it through with way too few tickets to stand a chance later.

I think the most interesting battles are the ones in the cave point
(fun fact, cave has an echo sound effect)

If only I actually managed to get there

On the rare few times I’ve played the map, myself and my team (Pacific Allies) as you said, haven’t been able to push past the first objective with probably one or two exceptions just to get stuck again at the ship, I’m not gonna blame one faction being stronger another, I just blame it on the fact people haven’t found a proper way to rush the first objective yet (even though it’s really easy to do once your team starts to do so).

Edit: Other than that I definitely like the look and feel of the map.

You are probably right, my impression is that there’s lack of relatively safe forward positions for attackers to set up reliable rally points emplacements.

I blame the grey zone that cuts out a large part of the village, thus excluding the best possible flanking route. There’s no left flank because of the sea, so the only viable routes allowed are either frontal attack, or a lightly covered path among huts with plenty of open space around the objective.

it’s definitely duable. although, you kinda need a competent team ( just like any faction on any map )

you ( as us ) have to take cover with rocks and houses.

once you captured the first hay shed,

you have to run low under the wooden planks and try to use those little houses as cover.

or, flank and build a rally in the main land ( hoping to not get spotted )

from there, to capture the ship reck, it’s always best if you can keep your squad in the middle levels of the ship. slighlty above the water. or, if you can, try to hold the bridge and lay down some fire upon incoming defenders from the opposite side.

mines are gonna be your best friends for this one.

then, it kinda depends because the point splits and i’m not entirely familiar with it.

in the caves, i’d argue it’s the worst part. defenders everywhere, collisions of maps a bit offset, and only so few tunnels to reach the point ( not entirely a bad thing , but life for ai is like pathfinding, without the finding. nevertheless cool)

but the one in the forest is all about placing a rally point next to it.

otherwise if it’s the trenches it’s about spamming flamethrowers.

and last point, it’s more of a cakewalk for allies rather than axis.

because they spawn in them middle of no where

in my case, my fully maxed squads allowed me to victory:

( it’s more about the auto spam than anything… i’ll admit that )

if you are interested

almost historical accurate loadouts

EDIT; forgot to say, it somewhat narrows down to paras. that those are the answer.

also, you need to be a stoner. smokes & wps.
from radio man cover smoke or normal grenade smokes.

as a japanese main, it’s either like you described, or chinese stacks with the bullshit late unlock weapons steamroll us because who would have fucking thought that giving automatic weapons to ALL riflemen would make chinese sweatlords almost impossible to defeat.

I’ve seen it work on the first beach house objective to build a rally along the very edge of the coast like Erika said you can get past the huts and run around the rocks and you can get pretty close while being mostly concealed there the only other option is to run from the village onto the footbridge and thats crazy.
I like the map overall I think my favorite parts are the ship and plane wrecks, I think the weakest part is maybe the trenches or the bunkers. I’m still trying to learn where to build rallies haha, I put down a nice one above the caves once, and saw a teammate build one near the tunnels once but I can’t find decent spots close enough. I had some trouble geting the maps when they came out so I played some custom game bot matches with the new georgia maps as the rotation it was pretty fun even with the bots in the hardcore mode.

Been on it once…wasnt really playing so much as sight seeing. Gorgeous map

We were allies on attack and we stomped them…might have something to do with the 28 kill opening mortar strike on first point.

Well, THAT PART is the problem, madam.

idk, each 2 time i played, i did managed to get it with relatively ease.

what was problematic for me, was to get inside the trenches, the caves, and the two barracks in the middle of no where.

Wish i could share the replay, but it’s kinda " lost " in the ether and the pain grind that i’m going through tunisia. after that i finished berlin.

The map is amazing !

The only thing I’d change is the time it takes to capture a point.
For a larger map like this it should take much longer otherwise we have ninja grabbers rushing and running the capture timer before anyone can say Hipi Yay Yaye.

As for Getting to the objectives, it takes some creativity and best use of available tools otherwise you just see teams loosing wave after wave of brainless head on assaults.

Besides testing, I only played like 10 times max there.

I only lost once as Japanese on a confro on mid point yesterday.
Besides that have bn great. Both sides were fun atacking and defending.

10/10map.amazing on caves and last point on airfield

My experience is that the attackers only fail to capture the first point because they try to spend too much time camping out on the sides to farm kills. They almost never try to push up like they should tbh.

In my recent experience as a Japanese main: players running around like headless chickens, very powerful Americans on the ground, in the air they are destroyed without mercy, people lack experience on the map and I feel that once again we are going to suffer the American imbalance in brief

I started by playing Japs on the campaign and it felt like players were really commited and often there were 3 or 4 rally points on the field.

Obvious it was a win 9 out of 10.

Then I swapped for US side and boy was I disappointed with average I.Q.

Feels like most new players decide to play US and do their own thing, which is fine, but makes team less competitive and uncooperative.
