To be fair, it make things easier if both knife and pistols are one key, press 3 for example.
(One button and then you got yourself pistol and a deadly melee, input would be right click to stab and left to shoot)

with the exception for shovel. kinda weird digging while holding a loaded pistol.
as for axe, it could be gone from animation if you were chopping tree

Would be an interesting mechanic if your weapon is knocked out of your hands when downed, but you can still pull out a pistol and defend yourself.

This is a must, since thats what pistols are meant for.

What happens to the people of the forum? The guns are fine as they are haha. They are reserve weapons when you run out of ammo.

You’re missing the one big thing pistols need:

REDUCE THE DISPERSION

Unsure about having bayonets, more points for pistol kills would be neat, and increasing the damage idk, they’re supposed to be your last resort basically, and making them 1 or 2 shot would definitely be too much. Basically all they need is just not having single action revolvers existing, and not being horrid for accuracy

All in all, pistols are even too much accurate already.

I thought pistols already 1 tapped to the head.

Last stand on down. Not a fan, but if you did put it in, it would have to be super wonky, unsteady, no aim down sights.

I think pistols are fine as they are, once you’ve practiced with them enough they are viable as backup weapons when reloading isn’t an option.

They are the least accurate weapons in the game, with dispersion on the LOW END being 0.6 for the Welrod, on average being around 0.8, and on the high end being 1.1

For reference:

  • Bolt actions have ~0.1, varying between rifles
  • Semi-Automatic Rifles land between 0.2-0.4 on average
  • SMGs land in the 0.6-0.8 range

i love killing people with pistol, its the peak form of “you are shit, i can kill you with this shit gun. die.”

everyone have melee, but pistol? pistol meant some dumbass (me) bother to buy pistol, equip them to some dudes, and use them instead of their main weapon to kill someone.

They SHOULD be. My point is that it’s already way easier to hit a human sized target at distance in game, than it would be irl.

If I were to choose a buff for pistols, I’d only increase their damage at very short range (10m) so that a single hit to the head or two torso hits are a guaranteed kill/down.

Yknow that’s how pistols are now… right?
Say it does flat 5 damage, that’s 2 to down if chest, 1 to head, possibly oneshotting outright on the headshot

The weakest pistols of each faction (By damage alone, I’m not considering much else unless there is a tie) are:

USSR: TK 1926: 4.4 damage (And 1.10 dispersion), basically just a god awful pistol choice in general
Germany: Walther PPK and Walther PP: 5.0 damage, but I’ll give it to PPK due to mag size and reserve ammo
US/Britain: Enfield No.2 Mk 1: 5.0 damage (Is also the most accurate US/Brit pistol outside of the Welrod)
Japan: Hamada Type 1: 5.0 damage

In short, most pistols will do exactly what you’re looking for so long as you aren’t playing USSR with the mentioned TK, and are within 10 meters, which I’d hope so if it warrants using a pistol

Also, I forgot to mention the huge ROF disadvantage of single action revolvers.

Even with a crappy semiauto handgun you can at least mag dump and have a reasonable chance to take down the guy before he fires back, while revolvers require mandatory headshot, or a VERY unaware target that hardly reacts even after being hit once.
