You and the people complaining about muh artillery are the ones that should learn to play better. They mindlessly rushed into artillery spots and then cried “oh artillery is killing me so much, please nerf it devs and make it completely ahistorical - I want this game to be about mah shooters, like all the other dumbed-down FPS’s available online”. Bullshit. The main factor and casualty source for infantry warfare was… artillery.
Artillery is supposed to suppress points, prevent and break static defenses and force the enemy to get cover & plan their freaking attacks, not rush in a line like a moron. And it was not like artillery was freely spammed before - it had a default 4 min cooldown, limiting the amount of strikes a team could call would have done it, but now after the nerfs it’s at best firecrackers that slightly concuss the enemy (while planes and tanks still rampage everyone). Playing as a radio operator was a fun gameplay, slightly weaker than tanker or bomber plane, but still a fun experience. Great job ruining part of the game and its realism for the sake of dumb players.
Artillery had literally thousands of shells available. They would - and it was their role to - support battling platoons. During an infantry battle the artillery wouldn’t be focused on counter-battering and suppressing enemy guns but the battling TROOPS instead. Same with CAS - and this happens in game as there are bomber planes - CAS would be focused on repelling the enemy troops not the artillery.
If you’re going to use that logic, then remove tanks and bomber planes too (which currently still go rampaging and killing hundreds, unlike artillery), after all “it’s a 50-man platoon why give them any support, lol”
Welcome to reality. Small arms weren’t responsible for even 10% of infantry casualties
Just make the first spawn of people be OUTSIDE the artillery range, don’t give an absurd and unhistorical and unreal random 1 minute block at the stage of battle most crucial for artillery support

But in short, the casualty rate of Arty does not mean it should be able to be spammed wherever you want and it should not be as frequent as it used to be. Maybe it should be damage buffed a bit, but it should stay limited to one person and should not be able to be spammed at the beginning. And placing spawns outside of Arty range at the beginning of the match will literally do nothing.

It does, quite alot actually. This is a game, games are supposed to be fun.
How ever, if you truely enjoy constantly dying you can simulate the artillery by using suicide button. Quite easy solution for your dying problems.
