How game is lying to us

2 years ago devs presented new realistic recoil system:

It is still in the game, but it is completely negated by shadow recoil reduction parameter - “gun_recoilControlMult”.

This parameter allows to change recoil, without showing it to players.
I guess, I don’t need to explain, why lying to anyone is bad, but how it is used in the game?

In case of LMGs its not that critical: -10%

But things become more interesting with SMGs - on most of them, be it PPSh-41, MP40 or Thompson recoil reduction is 60%!

And in most extreme cases - AVT40, Type 100 its 75% recoil decrease

So, this is what actual recoil of AVT-40 looks like:

Suggestion is simple - set “gun_recoilControlMult” to 1.0 or completely remove it from the game.
If recoil should be lowered (which, IMO, makes game boring), lower it so all players could see it, not only those, who can use editor.

I don’t see how “”""“beta”""" state of the game explains that devs basically lie about gun stats.

Read the second line too

? It has nothing to do with hiding stats.

It adreses things like for example bugged / unpolished damage models of tanks.

There is a big difference between “we are still working on this” and “we are lying about this”.

The stats could be changed in other places than the actual guns you know?

this means that they are not done wiith it yet.

Then why not simply change them normally instead of some hidden modifier?
If they want to ballance guns and change their recoil, just do it. Don’t hide it and don’t lie about stats.

(Yes, they are lying since they give us false values.)

“we are still working on improving this”

How can you be sure they didnt? the whole shadow recoil reduction parameter, could be for internal use from the devs. when they need to test something, but still dont want to change the original files. There are also the fact that the soldier perks changes the weapon stats for each soldier, so there need to be a “base stat” and a “personal stat” for EACH of them. Same goes for each gun, as you upgrade them their stats changes, for each induvidual gun. And still you think that everything is seen in 1 file??

As i said, this means that they are still working on it = not done.

Just go to the polygon and compare AVT and SVT, what files are you even talking about?

Other guns have no big problems but lmgs are harder to use than real life.

  • decrease dispersion even more
  • increase recoil to sky
So prople wouldnt be able to use them like fricking smgs

Recoil changes are not that common in devblogs.

Then it shouldn’t be published. End of story.

If they use those modifiers to live test changes, ok. But then why they don’t make it oficial afterwards?
It would be ok if it worked like this:

  1. add recoil modifier to a weapon
  2. see how players react
  3. after a month make it an oficial change, change stats and return modifier to 1

Except it doesn’t seem to work like this.

I don’t see how this has anything in common with weapons having a recoil modifier that isn’t mentioned anywhere and is hidden from players.

There is a big difference between recoil modifiers based on game mechanics (like perks etc.) and recoil modifiers based on some hidden stat most players are unaware of.

No they aren’t. The feature is already done.

I guess I’ll end now.
If you like being lied to, ok it’s not my buisness. But please don’t try to convince ppl it’s ok.

Thats for them to decide, its their game… EOD

But it doesn’t mean we have to be ok with being lied to.

if its for internal use, and not for what you think it is, then you are not being lied to are you?

Just test it yourself

Something to add?

@403076 Lets play a game.
I tell you my number is 4. What is my number?

Just don’t believe any fix or improvement at this point.

How many times You need to read fixed bot behaviour so they- don’t get in line of sight, don’t run out of building, how many more fixed bipods before You see it’s all smoke and mirrors
