How do you get the Squad to do anything other than die

I have my squad set to normal and aggressive and they NEVER get me one kill before they all die…What am I doing wrong…As soon as my main guy dies within 3 seconds all my other guys are gone…

I’m not really mobile in the game, unless I’m looking for a good flanking position to build a rally point.

When I’m like this, my squadmates don’t run since I don’t, thus are able to shoot. In my biggest squad, usually at least one of my AI controlled men get at least 1-2 kills.

Other than don’t run extremely long distances in the middle of a firefight, I have no other ideas. The AI in this game feels quite off (especially compared to older and independent game titles).

So my only advice is caution and slowing down a slight bit.

Use marking to make your troops look in the general direction of the enemy. That will give them more of a chance of a kill.

Always order them to hold position. This way they won’t run around as much and will focus on shooting.
Use marking (V default) to spot enemies. It causes AI to look in this direction.

But generally don’t focus too much on your AI. Their two main tasks are to be your spare lives and targets to shoot at. (Sadly)
Scoring any kills is just a “bonus” you may or may not get.

Your AI squadmates are most effective with MGs and Bolt Action rifles. If you really want them to farm some kills for you.

Btw. Especially when shooting from APCs, they’re total killers.

They suck at multitasking.

Holding position, with MGs or hard hitting weapons can get a few kills. Certain perks will help.

Spotting helps, individual soldier commands help with better positioning

As this fact shows, they are not really stupid, but too many players did not like the idea of being killed by bots, so they were intentionally set up to be easy on them.

Nothing
Because ai is horrendous

You have to time travel back into closed Beta testing times, then you will experience AI that actually can get some kills here and there.

Seriously though, your best bet is to keep them on “passive mode” so that they don’t fight at all, having them on aggressive will make them stand still and stop to aim, which makes them die faster.

AI is terribly easy, on a level that actually hurts gameplay.

If I don’t order my troops to hold position all they do is get in my way and get me killed along with them. I have often wished that Enlisted would let you gun down your own squad personal members (ones I control) LOL. Before I told them to hold, sniping was damn near impossible to do as they would always climb in front of you giving your position, or get in the way of a shot, thus getting me shot. So, when I go to far and see the order cancelled, I just look down and hit the hold button where I am so they will stop at some point

It’s amusing when you run into a room and there are 6 enemies standing there and not one of them acknowledges you so you know their bots. LOL

on ground: useless
in APC: terminators

having aim bot turned way up doesnt mean that they are smart.

do the paradivision trick of making ur mark target command slaved to ur fire command.

Ur troops turn towards the target you fire at within a second, helps.

I pretty much set every single squad I use on WIDE spacing; so that they take up 20-40m of space on the battlefield. Esp with 9 man rifle squads theyre now extremely widely deployed; makes it very hard to catch a concentrated MG belt or artillery blast. Ive noticed my AIs become much more survivable.

They are just posing as stupid BOTs and can transfer money from your bank account and blow up your microwave oven if they want to.
