How do You Feel About Swiss Guns to Japan?

For context I’m primarily talking about purely as limited event items outside of a few guns that were reasonably well known and purchased by Japan (like the SIG 1920/1930 smgs), or used by the belligerents of Japan like the SIG MKMO used by some folks within the Japanese installed puppet government in Mengjiang. Or something like the TT SIG KE7 LMG, and what’s to be expected being an extended magazine version sometime in the future presumably.

I’m talking about basically any other gun developed/produced in Switzerland within WW2, prior or even from WW1. I want to know how some of you would feel about giving some other SIG and Swiss firearms to Japan as purely limited event items.

Would you be okay with seeing them in game as event items, in the perspective of a long term future for additional Japan content, considering some limitations of domestic designs?

I just think it’d be kinda amusing and neat to see some very odd ball guns like the Lmg-Pist 41/44, or the Lmg 25 being used by Japan. (In a very limited number)

Also in my defence Japan has Ofenrohrs rn

Well Japan is one of the Asian Countries That Bought and Use Swiss Weapons

If unique in game’s context, I have no issue.

I have issue with copy pasting TT weapons between several ingame factions.

The Ofrenrohr was cheap, as each nation had it’s own equivalent.

I’m ok as long as the Swiss actually provided or the Japanese actually used some Swiss weapons. However, we have the Allies using Winchester 1866 and 1877 Cowboy and Indian guns that never sniffed WW2 being used, so what the hell do I know.

Now, I’m not complaining as I rather like the Cowboy and Indian guns, however, historically speaking, they were never a WW2 afterthought.

I really do hope current Ofrenrohr recipients outside of Germany will receive domestic alternatives. There’s been a decent handful of really put together suggestions and alternatives by others.

The Japanese did purchase and use a nice handful of Swiss guns from SIG. We have a few in game like the SIG 1920 & 1930 smgs and the KE7 that’s in the TT now!

I know historically they used them, mainly SNLF if I recall. But the KE7 is a tricky one, as no source I’ve read actually states which country got it, only “exported to numerous countries”. It could be inferred that Japan got some, but it was never documented.

Forgotten weapons says to China (Nationalist) and Ethiopia - the one they have here is Ethiopian:

I forgot China imported these. It is plausible then the Japanese captured them and put them to use. They did the same with the ZH-29s that they captured.

Ethiopia interestingly had a lot of advanced firearms (the ZH-29, the KE7, just to name a few). I guess that’s one of the benefits of being a smaller country - less people meant the money went further.

According to someone on Reddit 7900 were made and “most” went to china -

Here’s what I believe is a Japanese captured KE7 in China for what it’s worth.

Wouldnt mind, Japan was always lacking when it comes to unique event guns, I believe that even there could be a French event for them which would bring back Hotchkiss gun and introduce an event Renault FT tank

They didn’t buy KE7
KE7 is capture from china

My mistake. Nonetheless the main principal remains the same, they nonetheless acquired them.

Considering that we have no evidence of Japan purchasing the weapons presented in the topic, I am of course against it. Seriously, we can give Spanish or Swedish submachine guns, for example, by absolutely the same logic.

In fact, a lot of different weapons were sold to China. Some weapons are in principle unique and characteristic only of China. For example, China produced a modification of the ZB 26 with a horizontal magazine (Type 77), and also produced 30-round magazines for the Zb 26.

I think Chinese trophies could improve the situation.

Chinese trophies would definitely be a first go to option naturally. I’m mostly just trying to gauge how some of us would feel about the idea of such a thing. So thank you for this. Also first time seeing this modification of the ZB 26, pretty neat honestly.

yeah Germany already has trophy weapons in its TT so it shouldnt be much of a problem
