I always hear about the “supply drop number 2” or “operation snow mayhem” events but I can’t join them. I usually complete the tasks but I don’t see the quests and the rewards. I go to the event section in game and it doesn’t say “start task” or anything. Do I have to buy something?
U need to go to this section in the main menu and then go into the tab to see your progress and claim your reward
Well, you don’t need to go there specifically. You can claim event rewards the same way you are claiming complete daily tasks.
If everything is black out and your only option is to buy something. Then the event just ended.
During few following days, players can always buy tasks they have missed.

You are into event automatically, you just need play and get the score requirements
And dont forget claim the reward

For all events design this way unless like separate game mode like zombie events from last year you’re progression to obtain rewards in this event format can only be done in base game which is squads not custom matches

Play the game. Most major events are “get 20,000 points in 2 days” (your score at the end of the match is what it’s counting) and you simply play the game till you get the objective done
Other smaller events have 3 objectives to do every day similar to the daily objectives. Get X SMG kills, destroy X number of tanks, rally or APC was used X amount of times, etc
