How large is the current player base roughly? I have seen lately more and more battles where are so many bots.

One of the big detractors for the game for me is definitely a small maps, and exacerbating the problem is the fact that they’re so cluttered with crap that it makes using vehicles on the nightmarish most of the time.
For me personally this means I avoid most of the campaigns with the exception of Tunisia, but I play the daily challenges so I get to visit most of the other campaigns with some regularity with the exception of Berlin which is oddly missing from the daily challenges, So I have not played that at all.
Having said all of that I have been playing every day for about the past four months, so I’ve not gotten bored of the game but I do think the larger maps that were less filled with crap would be welcome.

I have noticed that as well.
On the other hand, the game loves to burn trough my rerolls with Stalingrad missions
Enough to fill all campaigns with players.
the issue, once again, is the 30sec to 1 min matchmaker that will fill everyone avaiable then, and few seconds after if you queue, you wont join that match.
besides that, no issues finding humans to play.
a good sign to spot - eng points, vehicles in match (always someone inside one at any given time) and player name tags.
theres always humans when i play most of the day, atleast on the servers i play.
when i get on a bot match i either leave just to find a human match few seconds after…

Dont know what game your playing
EEU and EU servers basically have no moscow axis and normandy allies, stalingrad axis populations. Like they are just bots.
As for OPs question, yes this game has a big population issue. And it is getting worse due to the devs not taking strong action to fix this game. Theyre just cashing out at this point

The playerbase is tiny. Devs keep trying to cash out, refuse to fix pre-existing issues and keep adding new stuff which only brings more issues. The devs are as braindead as the DBD devs, game will be dead within the year if it isn’t already.
