Hey Devs, since you're reworking stationary MGs

…Would you mind giving them back their moderate zoom ability?

Please?

Pretty please?

Their spread is a sufficient nerf already, no need to fatigue our sight and forcing us to splat our face on the monitor in order to see stuff.

If you need other ways to prevent them from being too good, then add mandatory reload after X rounds, like coaxial MGs of tanks, but don’t keep them a chore to the eyes to play.

Also, reminder that Maxim guns in Stalingrad are currently borderline useless, due to the shield both blocking most of the (unzoomed) visual and being a valid target for enemy fire to disable the gun.

You can zoom in with them in your hands, you can zoom in with them on vehicles, you should be able to zoom in with them everywhere. I don’t like having to put my face in the screen

Maybe make it a perk, like better visibility perks allows you to zoom in a bit…

inb4 binoculars mg bug

The zoom was removed because of the crying of the players on the Day-D map. I propose a Solomonic solution: stationary machine guns that are available to everyone should be left without a zoom, and stationary machine guns that an engineer builds must necessarily be with a zoom.

So basically you guys propose a ballance that has 0 logical sense.

The mg42s on the bunkers on Normandy are or were insanely op,
But player built mg maybe

Not only that, but those cost heavy and time consuming to build mgs are taken out by just 1 or 2 rifles bullets… It’s super easy to take them down with a simple rifle (that you can zoom with) when the mg gunner generally won’t even see you because you’re too far away…

Yes, zoom wasn’t harmful. Should be back.

The MG42s on the bunkers of Normandy are EXACTLY LIKE ANY OTHER stationary MG, except apparently US players that aren’t me can’t be bothered to think about a tactic that doesn’t funnel them into a killzone, before putting a weight on their W key and going for a snack.

They can flank either left or right (where there’s enough room for flanking to build a highway, both sides).

Or spend a moment and a few bullets and snipe MGs down before charging forward (even starter rifles can easily do the job).

Or any starter Stuart could destroy them ALL in a matter of minutes.

But no, apparently the average US player expects his D-Day experience to be “run straight forward through the centre of beach, sipping a soda while MG fire somehow misses you all the way”.

(Mandatory disclaimer before some random retard from the woods starts calling German bias: I regularly play US in Normandy, and when I do I still enjoy mowing down Germans with their own MG nests nonetheless.)

Bring back zoom on stationary MGs like the OP said, now they are almost useless unless the enemy is really close, also using them strains the eyes in a game where eye straining is already great.

Their glass cannon mechanic in my opinion doesn’t make them OP, but if you want to “balance” them, I propose zoom while holding your breath mechanic, that way you can’t spam them and makes hold your breath perk that little more relevant.

Also, pistols don’t have zoom too, would love to see just a little on them too, not to the extent the other weapons have obviously.

For now just go to options before you get on the gun and turn on the field of view to 50% for max zoom potential.

have you noticed that they messed the aim down of the mounted mg ?
now they cant aim down. :worried:

no more attic mounted machine guns :sob:

it is ok if this has to be the way it is now
but please GIVE BACK ZOOM

bruh, tanks could easily destroy all of them in the first minute of the game.

I think MG´s are really brocken. To build one cost much more time and resources as an Anti Air flak (Wtf?) and as you said, it can be a easly destroyed. This makes not sense at all.
