If what you say can appear in a Google search, Google and by extension YouTube has it. So probably what actually happened.
I work in IT and I’ve had to explain how creepy some of it gets to my end users because one guy looked up a part and another guy got an ad for the same part on his PC.
Interest by association.

If you typed the word recently on your smartphone the app registered it and the algorithm found a way of offering it to you, is the same algorithm technology companies developed to the American government and “revealed” (as no one knew it already) by Snowden.
Some smartphones may also send eventual “screenshots” to the company but those are usually used to develop AI.

I mean, I’ve googled HESCO once, I think a day after the Pacific release, to see what people are ranting about here. But it’s more than enough I guess.

Apps will disclose it in their privacy policies now.
The original Angry Birds got taken down because it didn’t disclose that it was selling the numbers in your contacts to telemarketers.
Nowadays apps still sell your contacts to telemarketers but this time they disclose it and nobody reads it.

Oh it is enough, I visited once on my phone the site of a local GPU supplier store we have in Brazil to see how was the shipment of the GPU the store ordered to me on their internal system, google took it personally apparently because they think I am looking for a GPU to this day.

I had the same situation. I googled hesco bariers only once and for a week now I see ads of hesco bariers.
At least it’s more interesting than some shit that was advertised earlier.
i mean.
i doubt you would normally look or ask for fortifications on your own to put in your garden.
