Here's a new idea to stop desertion let your own team have voice chat for communication

sadly they get thousands of people every year for violating section 5 in britain (over 3300 people in 2021). and this is not the only country. e.g. in croatia police fined a woman for saying in one facebook post that “policeman act like mushrooms”. you can easily find dozens of other countries with similar stupid laws.

That is a shame.
This begs the question though,
Who made the laws?

problem is not only in country and laws. problem is also in big tech. if they dont like your politics you could be effectively be banned from internet. problem is also in financial institutions. you could be banned by them for your political beliefs.

cough cough china cough cough

if only one country was the problem… even america has problem with free speech, just that instead of government it is the corporations that are regulating what can and cant be said.

Welp, humanity is fucked
It’s a video game dude, and here you are listing out major felonies as if Enlisted is a HUB for criminals to communicate and network amongst each other. And the only people calling for violence, are children/immature adults who rage over videogames, and vent their anger onto strangers from the other end of the microphone.

The solution is to M.U.T.E

However, the emotionally weak feel the need to take 100 extra steps, by crying to the admin and demanding action be taken to remove another individual from the gaming arena. The same emotionally weak minded people, then resort to threats of lawsuits and criminal charges if the company doesn’t respond.

And so things get out of hand, and EVERYBODY gets fucked over. No more communication.
Now we get multiplayer games without the ability to talk to each other. Everything gets censored. Nobody has independent thoughts, else risk getting reported to the administration.

What’s the point of MMO games? Might as well play single-player games for the next 100 years while we wait for these weakminded people to die off.

which equates to = censoring history + deleting anybody who asks questions that contradict what the administration has instructed the masses to believe

I’m pretty sure extremists have more efficient places to recruit members to their cults. Prison and jails are probably the number one place they recruit from. It’s where people go to learn about the system, harden up, and learn about Fight Club. It’s the same for cartels, mafias, gangs, etc. (recruitment, contacts, communication, training… it all takes place inside/outside the prison industrial complex.)
Of course there are many other avenues for recruitment, but only an idiot would try to recruit no-named strangers from random video-game lobbies on the internet. Especially in 2023 when it’s common knowledge that everything we say and do on the internet, is tracked, traced, monitored, and recorded.

Why would an extremist come to a videogame lobby, and attempt to recruit random strangers? While knowing everything we say and do, leaves behind a digital papertrail and an IP address.
An extremist who is stupid enough to attempt what you’re speculating, will not last for very long before the administration is knocking on their front door.

lol society has been violent since the beginning of time. Everywhere we look, whether it’s the news, the movies, tv shows, video games, music, social media, and out in real life… we are surrounded by violence, and society glorifies violence. But when someone is actually violent, suddenly everyone acts surprised and cries for more laws, regulations, and censorship of our freedom of speech.

Spoiler alert: All law enforcement uses Facebook to track suspects and gather information/evidence that can be used against him/her. It’s nothing new.

it is pointless to talk to you cause you cant understand legal liability.
here is company that didnt want to moderate their content. games with ingame voice and without moderation are also susceptible to this

Heavy metal band Metallica discovered a demo of their song “I Disappear” had been circulating across the network before it was released. This led to it being played on several radio stations across the United States, which alerted Metallica to the fact that their entire back catalogue of studio material was also available. On March 13, 2000, they filed a lawsuit against Napster. A month later, rapper and producer Dr. Dre, who shared a litigator and legal firm with Metallica, filed a similar lawsuit after Napster refused his written request to remove his works from its service. Separately, Metallica and Dr. Dre later delivered to Napster thousands of usernames of people who they believed were pirating their songs. In March 2001, Napster settled both suits, after being shut down by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in a separate lawsuit from several major record labels (see below).[11] In 2000, Madonna’s singleMusic” was leaked out onto the web and Napster prior to its commercial release, causing widespread media coverage.[12] Verified Napster use peaked with 26.4 million users worldwide in February 2001.[13]

In 2000, the American musical recording company A&M Records along with several other recording companies, through the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), sued Napster (A&M Records, Inc. v. Napster, Inc.) on grounds of contributory and vicarious copyright infringement under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).[14] Napster was faced with the following allegations from the music industry:

  1. That its users were directly violating the plaintiffs’ copyrights.
  2. That Napster was responsible for contributory infringement of the plaintiff’s copyrights.
  3. That Napster was responsible for the vicarious infringement of the plaintiff’s copyrights.

Napster lost the case in the District Court but then appealed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Although it was clear that Napster could have commercially significant non-infringing uses, the Ninth Circuit upheld the District Court’s decision. Immediately after, the District Court commanded Napster to keep track of the activities of its network and to restrict access to infringing material when informed of that material’s location. Napster wasn’t able to comply and thus had to close down its service in July 2001. In 2002, Napster announced that it had filed for bankruptcy and sold its assets to a third party.[15] In a 2018 Rolling Stone article, Kirk Hammett of Metallica upheld the band’s opinion that suing Napster was the “right” thing to do

here is what happened when parler didnt “moderate their content fast enough”

On January 8, two days after the storming of the Capitol, Google announced that it was pulling Parler from the Google Play Store, contending that its lack of “moderation policies and enforcement” posed a “public safety threat”.[89][90] Also on January 8, Apple informed Parler that they had received complaints about its role in the coordination of the riot in Washington D.C., the existence of “objectionable content” on the service, and that they had observed that “the app also appears to continue to be used to plan and facilitate yet further illegal and dangerous activities,” in violation of Parler’s own guidelines forbidding such content. Apple requested Parler submit a “moderation improvement plan” within 24 hours or face removal from the App Store. On Parler, Matze posted that Parler would not “cave to pressure”, and accused Apple of being anti-competitive.[91] Apple followed through with their warning the next day, removing Parler from the App Store on January 9.[92] Ahead of the shutdown, some Parler users issued calls for violence and armed protests at state capitols and circulated conspiracy theories about Apple.[93] Apple CEO Tim Cook later explained that in the company’s view, “free speech and incitement of violence” do not have “an intersection”.[94] Cloud communications company Twilio ended service to Parler, which made the service’s two-factor authentication system stop working; Okta also denied them access to their identity management service, resulting in Parler losing access to some of their software tools.[31] In addition, the database company ScyllaDB terminated its relationship with Parler, who had been using Scylla’s Enterprise database.[95]

On January 9, Amazon announced that it would suspend Parler from Amazon Web Services, effective at 11:59 p.m. PST the next day. Echoing Google’s rationale for dropping its version of the Parler app, Amazon said Parler’s failure to police violent content made the site “a very real risk to public safety”.[30][96][97] Parler went offline when Amazon withdrew its cloud computing services as scheduled.[29][98] On January 11, Parler sued Amazon under antitrust law, saying the suspension of services was “apparently motivated by political animus”, and had been carried out with the intention of benefiting Twitter by reducing competition.[99] U.S. District Judge Barbara Rothstein ruled in Amazon’s favor ten days later.[100][101] Parler also denied Amazon’s claims that it failed to properly moderate content.[102] On March 2, Parler withdrew a federal antitrust lawsuit they had filed against Amazon two months prior, but filed a new lawsuit against the company in state court. The new lawsuit alleged Amazon had breached terms in their contract and defamed Parler.[103][104] Amid the lawsuit, in mid-April 2021, Amazon accused Parler of trying to conceal its ownership.[105] On September 17, 2021, Seattle federal district Judge Barbara Rothstein approved Parler’s request that its complaint against Amazon be heard in King County Superior Court.[106]

there is no better target to recruit than children. they are impressionable and easy to fool.

and how will administration even know that he is doing that when there is no moderation? you can easily hide IP, or you can even be in hostile country where those laws dont apply.

also you are overestimating capabilites of government agencies. i havent analyzed network packets from enlisted, but games usually have them encrypted. also when you include game data with voice and you encrypt them together in one packet, they can be safer than sending voice or text on e.g. whatsapp or signal.

I’m aware of more than you care to realize. But I like to hear other people’s perspectives on various topics/debates, so I’m presenting counter-arguments in order to see your rationale on the matter.

Metallica and Dr. Dre are just strawman names, and are nothing more than an image for the music industry to cling on to, and reap as much money as they possibly can. The battle between the music industry and free music file sharing has been going on since internet became mainstreamed.

And this is hardly an example of why we cannot have microphone communications in the game Enlisted.
Who cares if someone is playing music in the background? Why does that have to be a liability concern for Dark Flow? Just get on YouTube and search for any music you want to listen to, and you watch it for free… So this argument isn’t relevant for gamers/players not being to communicate with each other.

In regards to the second article, no offense but I don’t follow the relevance for what we’re talking about. This is all political/corporate bullshit, and all I’m saying is that it’d be nice to communicate with other people who are playing the game.
“Hey there’s some paratroopers coming down”
“Hey there’s a sniper in that building over there”
“Hey, there’s a tank camping in the Grey Zone. Can someone take it out?”
“Hey you guys, the objective is cleared. Move up and help cap.”
"Hey you guys, I’ll build a rally point and ammo boxes if someone wants to focus on building fortifications on the objective?
“Hey guys, I built a couple of AA guns behind the objective. Feel free to use them”
"Hey can someone help me dig a big ass trench?
“Hey, can someone give me coordinates for enemy position? I’m using the mortar squad”

But you’re saying we can’t have any of that :point_up_2:, because there’s a risk of someone promoting violence within the chat system (even though we’re playing a violent game that involves shooting other people, gore, and dismemberment)…

Pedophiles who are targeting children via in-game microphone systems, need to be hung by their necks from a tree limb. But again… it all comes down to personal accountability. First and foremost, parents need to be keeping a better eye on their children, and become aware of the facts/reality. Which means parents who are allowing their kids to play online gaming, it’s their responsibility to educate their kids about strangers from the internet. And teach their kids about pedophiles and predators, and teach their children how to identify and avoid these types of people.

But instead… the negligent parents who don’t give a fuck until their kids become a victim, are a major reason why the rest of us cannot have voice communications within online-gaming.
If people weren’t so stupid and gullible, none of these problems would even exist.
And when predators are identified, there are ample places to report these people to.

I never said that there doesn’t need to be a form of moderation. It would be expected, and is no different than the type of moderation that we had back in the early 2000’s (when Call of Duty, Battlefield, Counter Strike, Halo, were all becoming popular). There weren’t moderators inside the lobbies… but whenever someone did something that crosses the line (via their microphone), they could be reported to Xbox and their microphone privileges would be suspended for a few weeks. Multiple offenses resulted more severe penalties.

And obviously if someone is caught preying on kids, or promoting violence, or threatening to kill someone… those audio recordings can be sent further up the ladder to law enforcement. It’s really not that complicated…

There’s always more than meets the eye. Sometimes things are deliberately fucked, because it gives a certain group a higher position of power. But that’s just my opinion on the matter :man_shrugging:

and continues with stupid arguments that shows that you dont understand anything. i can see that you never worked for big corporations and/or are not aware of higher management decision making process. they will never implement decision that isnt 100% free of legal consequences and that their legal department doesnt give an ok. running multinational company is even harder cause you can get f**** by hundreds of laws.

why do you think you cant have swastikas and other historical insignias ingame? cause their company can get in legal trouble in some countries where law isnt clearly defined in regards to showing historical nazi insignia inside game/art.

jokes on you, I used to manage for a big corporation

What are you getting all frustrated about?
My position is not stupid… Do you know how many people would appreciate having communication within the game?
But the reasons you’re giving me, are completely absurd.
Based off your explanations, I don’t even understand how the internet hasn’t been shut down entirely. It’s nothing but speculation, pointing fingers, and living in a constant state of fear that DF might offend someone, and get sued for not enforcing censorship/moderation.

It’s like walking on ice, and you expect people to have fun playing the game?
From my position, your rationale is that this game has no future.
Why?
Because it’s an online MMO, that does NOT have communication. Therefore players are going to get bored and move on to something more stimulating.

Because the emotionally weak minded, are afraid of history and facts :man_shrugging:
Duh

somehow i find that very hard to believe. maybe if you were manager of your local mcdonalds that would qualify for “management” position in big corporation.

i gave you 2 good examples of what can happen when you dont enforce censorhip/moderation. you can find dozens more examples of what happens when you have unmoderated platform.

cause people moderate content on internet. everyone has their legal liability and if they break the law they are sued. do you think that facebook, twitter and youtube would still be here if they didnt moderate the content?

 yeah that was a good joke DF marketing made and stupid people believed.

Uh oh, a random person from the internet doesn’t believe me. Whatever shall I do? :man_shrugging:

You gave two irrelevant examples.
-One from the music industry vs a website that was doing illegal file sharing.
-The other was regarding an orchestrated event that’s been entirely propagandized from the start. Which has NOTHING to do with Enlisted, and being able to communicate with teammates.

-And again, I did NOT say that there wouldn’t be any need for moderation.

They only moderate the content and users who goes against “the narrative”. There’s plenty of disturbing content on Youtube that has not been censored/removed.

So you’re saying false advertising is okay, and there’s no issue with it?
But in the same breath, you’re saying we cannot have team communications because “somebody might say something bad”.

Sorry dude, but the hypocrisy and the irony makes me chuckle

it is entirely relevant.

  1. napster is a case about how they refused to comply with content removal and got bankrupt cause of it. this is precedent in US courts where platform allowed unmoderated illegal activity and is relevant for any other platform. there are loads of other examples similar to this like piratebay, megaupload/video, silk road etc.
  2. you are missing the point. amazon used clause in contract to terminate it cause they didnt moderate their content.

idk why i am even bothering explaining this to you.
go research this yourself if you dont believe me. here is starting point

was i talking to another person with same name?
this is whole point that i am arguing. you were saying that mute button is enough, when it is obviously not. they need team of full time moderators which they currently dont want to hire.

you can sue DF for that under EU laws. not that you will get anything for it. they will get some small fine and that is it.

no i am not saying that. i am saying that they need to hire moderation team which they are too cheap to do cause someone might do something illegal.

i am not against team communication and would like to have it, just that:

  1. DF is too cheap to hire moderator team
  2. DF will not open themselves to legal liability by having unmoderated chat
