Help with Soviet guns

I don’t know what guns to use as a newbie for each rank as I progress.

Whatever ones you enjoy using - rank 1 bolt action rifles kill people just as good in BR5 games as in BR 1 games.

My picks

tier 1
Mosin m91 30
ppd 34
bt 7 or t70
lagg 3 11

Tier 2
Fedorov rifle or winchester
pps 43 or 42
t28e or bt 7a from event if you will ever get it
p 40 e1 and su 2
I wouldnt bother using mgs in this br

Tier 3
svt 38
ppsh 41 box
kv 1 l11 for downtiers and t 34 57 for uptiers
still p40 e1 and su 2 since t3 soviet planes suck
dpm but dp 27 also works

Tier 4
Svt 40 but 38 also still works
Ppd 40
t 34 85
Still p40 and su 2
dpm works since dt 29 aint worth upgrading

Tier 5
Avt 40 20 but normal avt is also fine
Ppsh 41 for guerillas and tankers while as 44 or fedorov for assaulters
Still would use t34 85 but t34 100 is good if you get it from gambling box
Su 9 jet fighter and tu 2s
Rd 44

Most stuff you use is vastly superior to what axis uses so don’t worry about it.

At br3 and br5 you only have best guns available to you so you can’t go wrong. Just make sure to use avt-40 20 instead of one with 15 rounds and rd-44 (best mg in a game) instead of Maxim

Yeah

Only about 10x as slow tho

Almost agreed but after buffs Fedorov beats AS-44 by quite a large margin

IS-I has better armor and reverse speed compared to T-34-85 at a cost of forward speed and horizontal traverse. Both are obsolete when facing Tiger II (H). T-34-100 is the best choice, if the user doesn’t have it the best practice is to avoid tanks completely

Su-9 is also not great. Soviets have one useful dogfighting plane and it’s La-7 but it has such low bombload it struggles to keep up. Would avoid them as well and focus on infantry

I feel like T-34 STZ is the perfect all-rounder, and I don’t remember last time I got uptiered and actually saw Tiger/Panther.

La 7FN is great though, no? Yak 9 is also good for air superiority. IL-2-37 is an all-rounder tank.

It’s indeed great with the upgraded armor and still decent gun.

Though it’s not available anymore for new players.

Consider it a skill challenge
I’m not a top rank player byut I use BA snipers at every level when doign a sniper task, and Winchesters are not that slow either

I also prefer it but i didnt mention it since it is impossible to get right now

La 5 has good mobility but only 2 50kgs. Yak 9 has no bombs at all so i wouldnt bother. Il 2s have horrible handling and dual 100kg + 37mm is worse than 6 100kg in my opinion

Use as many assaulters as possible - Soviets have the best SMGs in the game. Doesn’t really matter what SMG you pick… well BR1 PPD is kinda tricky to use because its empty fast, but all the other SMGs on the tech tree are super powerful.

True, true.

I’ve actually been running double fighter lineup recently, since I only really use planes to quickly revenge kill that Red Baron who’s flying around bombing people freely untontested anmd them go back to the ground, and Yak-9T is quite nice even if you see a tank due to its 37mm cannon.

Don’t think I’ve ever flown it, will try.

You wont be dissapointed. It is one of my favourite planes and sometimes i even win dogfights with it despite it being a bomber

Do you see the problem

AVT40(20) is 8.68 times faster while having 4x the ammo count

IL-2M Type 3 has 4x100kg + 4x RBS rocket + guns other than 7.62mm. It has much worse handling tho but armament wise shouldn’t it be better?

I was refering to il 2 37 for the armanent. Il 2m has better armament but the handling is so terrible that i would never use that plane again. Sometimes you literally cant climb to rearm point because it is so slow

thanks for sharing this info

What - newbies shouldn’t try to skill up?

Yeah I see you have a problem…

10/10 for stating the bleeding obvious and useless fact

‘Skilling up’ by actively handicapping yourself isn’t a great idea, especially for newbies. Enlisted is bit more complicated than just ‘shoot gun → win’ and getting optimized loadouts is the best way to learn what the game is truly about. Handicapping yourself can warp the perception of what are certain nations strengths, weaknesses as well as develop bad habits as you don’t really know how powerful you truly are and how aggressively you can play. The playstyle changes as you progress through the BRs and artificially extending BR1-2 to further BRs is counterproductive

If you already have enough skill to be good with weaponry: sure - challenge yourself by using non-optimal solutions. But before that, learning the game as it’s played correctly is the best and safest option

So many times I’ve seen people say bullshit that BA are BR5 viable just because they never bothered to learn how spacing works when using a sami auto
