Help with custom match

I’m “conscripting” (badum tsss… right?.. no?.. ok, sorry…) friends recently into joining Enlisted. To do it smoothly and not “throw them to the wolves”, I bring them into laid back custom matches to slowly show them the ropes.

But… new players DON’T HAVE ACCESS to custom matches right off the bat! I don’t know why since I’ve been playing for a looong time myself.

My question is this: what does a new player need to do to access custom matches?!? Reach a certain lvl in one campaign? Play a certain amount of matches??? One of my friends got access at last the third time he connected, but we don’t know what was different.

Anybody here knows what is needed for a new guy to play custom?

Maybe get level 3? I know that you couldn’t play lone fighters right away. Sorry don’t know for certain.

My friend got lvl 3 yesterday but still it didn’t “unlock”… We even made him reconnect to be sure… Our last theory is it takes at least lvl 5… But if that’s the case it’s a lil much…

Or, it might be just some bug.

It does so for every new friend I try to show the game to… It’s not helping in keeping them I tell you, especially if Normandy is the first campaign they want to try… (dday and bomb fest planes aren’t pleasant for new players…)
