Since devs are prepearing for pacific, we will eventually see okinawa and manila campaign at some point.
Okinawa is the blodiest and most famous battle of pacific front.
Manila is the biggest urban battle of pacific.
Type 5 Chi ri for japan and m26 pershing for us.
Okinawa Battle took place in 1 april 22 june 1945
Manila took place in 3 february - 3 march 1945
M26 was first introduced in november 1944
Adding pershing will not be anachronism
( yeah i know m26 was never used in pacific but theoretically us could use it in 1945)
Chi ri will be anachronistic but we’ve already seen experimenrals and prototypes in other campaigns. Adding prototypes is essential for pacific balance.
I really wanna use these 2 big bad bois <3
The heaviest tank that i could see being in the pacific would be a Jumbo of some stripe for the Americans and a Churchill of some stripe for the British and i got no idea what the Japanese could get.
I would rather not see any that heavy, but that’s probably what the devs will give us.
Chi Ri is worse than the KV-1 but that never stopped it from being tiered above them in war thunder.
Ro Go would be a fun premium but the armor is next to non-existent
Any 44/45 time frame tank match up would be hard to balance unless you go totally fantasy land for the Japanese, even mid war they will struggle to find an armor balance.
Manila was big, but there were other larger Urban areas that saw fighting like Singapore, Hong Kong, kind of depends on how you want to define the pacific, if it includes anywhere the Japanese fought than several places in China would likely be bigger, like Chingasha in China.
Pershing’s did not see action till I think February of 45 in NW Europe, IS III’s saw action in Manchuria but with these late war Allied Tanks it’s like clubbing Babby seals given the actual Japanese Armor that was available.
US Tank losses per unit on Okinawa were over 100% (they carried spares on the ships), but what killed the tanks were AT guns, Mines, and Large Artillery, and the odd suicide attack, not Japanese tanks
There are 2 problems.
-
Balance. Japanese didnt have anything that could even counter an M4A2 sherman
-
Our Pacific is based on 1942-1943 Guadalcanal campaign.
m26 wasn’t even in the pacific though only in europe
And that is what I thought, yet there is a lot of 44/45 kit shown in the previews
Such as?
I take it the Lunge mine probably? Not too knowledgeable on jap weaponry
Lunge Mine yes
Giretsu Paratroopers, these did not exist at all till late in 44
Type 1 SMG, this is kind of fiction, but then a lot of Weapons are in game.
Thompson M1928 USMC, it was not widely used by the marines, very few in fact were and when they were they had a 50 round drum mag as an option, later in the war many “Normal” Thompsons were used though.
Ka-Chi, was not really a thing till late war, although technical introduced in 43.
They have the Owen in use by the Marines, another fantasy thing, Ownes were not used in the Solomons, they were an Australian thing, the US never used them afik.
O, there is also an M1 Carbine pictured someplace as well being used by a marine, more a late war thing as well.
And that Japanese Self-loading rifle, another more or less fantasy weapon
Thats just what I can see off hand.
Nice Link: TAKI (plala.or.jp)
Chi Ri is incomparable to Pershing. It is not a heavy tank. Its 75mm effective armor is weaker than a sherman. Sherman can easily pen it even with its solid Ap shell. Besides that, the prototype is unfinished. The Pershing’s armor is too good and the Chi Ri can only pen its Mg port. So Pershing will be very OP.
Thanks for the info
With all due respect but…
Are you retarded ?
well to be perfectly correct, they were in pacific and they were shipped to okinawa, just allies won before they saw action…
at least jumbo is in the proper theater of combat just 3 months ahead of time
In May 1945, as fierce fighting continued on the island of Okinawa and M4 tank losses mounted, plans were made to ship the M26 Pershing tanks to that battle. On 31 May 1945, a shipment of 12 M26 Pershing tanks were dispatched to the Pacific for use in the Battle of Okinawa. Due to a variety of delays, the tanks were not completely offloaded on the beach at Naha, Okinawa until 4 August. By then, fighting on Okinawa had come to an end, and V Day followed on 2 September 1945.
pershing at least came faster
the japanese had nothing to counter a m26, even most of the shermans are better than the best tanks the japanese had
Perhaps such tree seems better. (I made this sheet for suggestion a month ago)
well you can always replace japanese heavy tank with yamato… i think japanese players wouldnt be against such change.
You mean the artificial reef?
