Heavy gunfire should cut down a tree at the shooting position

I think if trees could be cut down from when you are in a bunker and you are firing at wimpy palm trees that should the shredded like paper.

and leaves and branches falling …

Those trees should be sawdust from the gunfire I was shooting out of that gun at the enemy.
