HE nerfed into the ground ruins balance and immersion

In a sense, I’m in favour of the nerf to HE, having used the IS2 in Berlin to get 40 kills in one hit, and the M8 in Normandy to clear the battle zone non-stop. I had a lot of fun playing it, but not so much against enemy infantry, now HE is still good at killing but not as easy to use as it used to be

I agree some of the premium vehicles and squads are definitely not that problematic, the biggest problem with pay to win is simply being able to BUY extra vehicle and infantry slots which gives a paid player HUGE advantage over free player…and some of these people in the post are salty lmao, they don’t understand that HE should be realistic and effective AND grey zone camping should be removed, they are both problems I don’t want HE to be more effective simply so that I can grey zone farm I want it to be realistic so that it isn’t the only viable option…

Of course we all hope the upcoming roadmap is going to bring good news.

But about player numbers, honestly none of us but Devs can know the actual math. On the forum all we can see are either dedicated players, or angry ones venting before leaving, but I guess the vast majority of players comes and goes without bothering to comment here or elsewhere.

I see your point, I agree that while grey zone camping remains in the game and map flanks aren’t fixed the HE nerf is a net positive, but for people who would prefer realism and pushing tanks up with the infantry I see it is a negative…it isn’t so simple as just buff the HE back to what it was, the reason they nerfed the HE in my opinion is because they lack the ability or care to fix other problems…grey zone camping, pay to win vehicle balance etc…premium vehicles and squads aren’t the pay to win issue by the way, sure they can be seen as problematic, but the biggest issue is paid players having more vehicle and infantry slots every game, this means they have more counter play options and more tactics than a free player has access to, if they simply allowed free players to unlock extra slots the games pay to win issues would be much less of a problem

If you put it this way, it’s debatable but it makes more sense.

definitely player retention is a problem, and the devs lack of honesty in general is also an issue great point, but you can clearly see in plenty of matches the bot squads are filling most games up and it really ruins the quality of the game…one of the things the community asked for to help the game repopulate was giving xp and weapon order bonuses for playing a low population campaign/faction, kind of an incentive to play the losing/less populated side, devs ignored all these great ideas to just hammer the pay to progress and pay to win strategy hoping for more whales…sadly the whales will keep supporting these tactics and the game won’t be fixed as long as these monetization strategies remain supported by a toxic select few…

I am willing to hear your debate for sure, removing grey zone camping and making HE great again what would be the problem? I also think matches should have an early victory condition to prevent bot farming/spawn camping from being so prevalent, I have left plenty of matches/fights when my team is winning simply from smacking people in spawn from the grey zone, every now and then I catch myself doing it and it just feels bad and unrewarding…

I purchased the premium pass for more resources and I also purchased the premium account so I have one more infantry and vechicles slots over free players regardless of the campaign, but that doesn’t allow me to gain much of an advantage over free players other than grinding speed. Three fully upgraded infantry squads are enough for me to cycle out, and I carry tanks but almost never use them in slightly more intense matchups, instead just using attackers to counter enemy camping tanks (which are more convenient than using tanks or AT guns). I pay just to get more resources and a faster upgrade speed.

Almost(the only exception may be the Tunisian flame trooper squads, which have T2 flamethrower that cannot be unlocked in this campaign and have three flame troopers in the squad instead of the normal two )all the premium squads in this game are weaker than the squads that can be unlocked for free. The only real advantages they give you are faster grinding and not having to put up with lower level weapons. For example, the Berlin Soviets’ AS44 is pretty much the best advanced assault squad in this game, but both the weapon stats (worse accuracy and damage), soldier stats (can’t use extra life increase perk) and squad composition (can’t carry anti-tankers or machine gunners, and Berlin needs a lot of anti-tank work) are far inferior to the free unlockable Federov squads, not to mention the AVT40. Try asking players who play all the time about the three top infantry squads you need to grind to get constantly out in the thick of the battle (in Berlin, it was two infantry squads and a flamethrower squad), rather than taking time out to play paid squads or other teams. Paid slots do give more flexibility to the players who buy them, but they’re not as huge as you make them out to be.

your argument boils down to the way you play not the fact it is an advantage or not, just because you don’t exploit the extra vehicle slot and buy extra doesn’t mean other players won’t…that is called an incomplete counter because it doesn’t answer the original context. The original argument is, is it unfair a paid player can bring a tank and a plane and buy more than 2 vehicle slots compared to a free player? The answer is simple, yes it is unfair, simple as that…I am glad you don’t abuse it and you just wanted faster progression that is noble of you

I agree it isn’t always HUGE or game breaking to have the paid slots, but I don’t know if you know this you can actually continue buying more and more slots after buying a premium account, I have seen people with 4-5 vehicles slots simply because they paid money without earning anything at all…the worst part is free players don’t even know this option exists because free players aren’t even offered the option to purchase the extra slots until the purchase premium, hiding game advantages behind pay walls that are ALSO behind another pay wall is just really scummy…I agree with you about the infantry squads though the extra options are really the only issue, premium infantry squads usually are inferior except for that flametrooper squad you mentioned being only exception…

I’m not denying that it does have an advantage, what I mean is that it doesn’t allow me to gain a greater advantage over players with the same gear and level of play in the tightest of matchups. Because if I want to win in those kind of matchups then the squads I should be using are pretty much the same three fixed ones - top infantry, top raiders and top flame troopers. the problem is that the current game mode and matchups don’t give me a reason to use other squads, just to sweat it out for victory, and I’d love for DF would have made the other squads more useful in a more interesting mode

I know, some of my friends buy exaggerated amounts of extra slots and stuff them, I just choose not to spend money on it, it’s not necessary for me.

The same goes for vehicle squads, many of which are useful for players who are grinding, such as the advanced Jumbo in Normandy, or are fun to play with, but that’s about it

thanks for clarifying, not trying to throw you under the bus lol you seem like a decent player, yeah the ability to spam vehicles with premium and extra slots is really bad, especially since you can essentially have 2 versions of the same tank, maybe one of the most annoying is the Calliope even though it is easy to kill with my tank, it is now the ONLY tank with really good and easy splash damage that can farm kills easily and I will never be able to try it since I don’t want to give these dishonest devs the money…hopefully Battlebit releases soon so my server can get back to teaming up and playing again, this game has been dead because of the pay to win issues for a while sadly…

I dont know what happened, it wasnt in the notes? Did they turn HE into cannonballs? I noticed my HE was less effective today for no apparent reason

My opinion’s TLDR on the matter:

  • Large calibre HE is kinda fine, small calibre HE is comically weak

  • Grey zone is a necessary evil to prevent/limit spawn camping

yeah I was gone from the game for almost 200+ days or something like that…game is even worse now, grey zone camping is the only option for tanks now with the HE nerf…which gets boring fast and doesn’t feel fair or rewarding…

Game already has spawn protection why not just extend that to both sides and vary the spawn when it is being attacked? And if it continues to be an issue why not my early victory idea? If enemy team is that tactically superior to position infantry and tanks right on top of their spawn game should just end no?

did anyone read the SECRET patch notes…

A lot of stuff doesn’t show up in the changelog, which seems to be the norm in the modern MMO industry, and I’m a game maker too, but my job is mainly to write stories for games, I will have to ask my colleagues later.

Hell Let Loose has a spawn camping issue but it actually ends the games early once it happens so unless it is just a lone sniper team disrupting the enemy team it doesn’t go on all game, and IMO it makes sense to allow recon or assault infantry to go past or behind enemy lines that is their entire purpose in the war…disrupt enemy formations and defensive positions no?

it doesn’t help at all since most defence matches for me boil down to spawn camping anyway. they grey zone just makes it take longer. and despite what sweatyboobs says, i’m not really noticing bot matches much anymore, unless i’m playing at like 3 or 4am server time.
