HE needs rework immediately

So I recently fully moved up from BR II to BR III and what a change. Aside from having some of the worst weapons in the game (cough cough Gewehr 41 and BAR), it is also the worst BR for…

Greyzone camping and HE spam

I mean like, in what world is it ok to keep slinging HE shells at a point sitting about 250m away from the point. I reckon, just like going into the grey zone as an enemy, there should be a timer for being in friendly greyzone as a tank (30 sec - 1 min). But that belongs in a different thread.

What I want to discuss is a match I had as BR III Soviets. For starters, HE spam is just as toxic no matter which nation you play. At least something is balanced in this damn game. But here is where things get interesting.

Not sure if you guys are real familiar with Moscow (at least I think it’s Moscow, they all look the same), but you know the cathedral map? I was defending as the Soviets and I was on the point inside the barn, specifically, the large square area on our side. There’s a corridor in front of that and to the right is the stable area.

Somehow, the HE shells from a Marder II were killing my men, which were 10m or so from the doorway. How in the world is that possible? Mind you, he was camping so far back he might as well been in Normandy. Whenever I shoot HE shells, I’m lucky to get a kill if it lands within 10cm of someone if the shot isn’t on point.

And then because we’re constantly concussed (because in the background artillery strikes and mortars and bombing runs are going on while the tank constantly slings HE within 10 mi of the point and still kills 10 dudes at a time), they can easily just storm the point while we’re helpless to do anything remotely useful.

Has it always been this bad, or has tactics like this become more prevalent? I hope it doesn’t reach low tier, because then the game will truly be dead. Also, there’s the pressing matter of increasingly one sided battles. I think that’s to do with stacks, and they should be in a separate game mode to the casual single players.

What dark flow needs to do is reassess the HE splash and concussion radius, because from 10m away behind several wall, I shouldn’t be concussed as if it just detonated 20cm away.

From my experience BR5 is far worse.

In a world where every infantry man can destroy a tank from 20m and every 5th infantry man can destroy a tank from 100m.
Why would a tank get closer? To get killed?

I agree that tanks camping in gray zone and spamming HE are annoying. But do they really have any other choice if they want to live for more than 5min?

Nope.

  • They need to make objectives larger so HE doesn’t cover it all.
  • They need to make maps easier to maneuver with vehicles so driving is not a waste of time. Now game encourages you to camp due to poor maps and poor vehicle performance.
  • They need to at the same time push tanks out of the gray zone and make it harder for infantry to kill tanks. Doing only one will result in a disaster.
  • They need to make playable areas bigger so both infantry and tanks have space to maneuver and flank, instead of B-lining to the 20m2 capzone covered in explosions.
  • They need to make it harder to actually destroy tanks but keep it easy to disable. Tanks are everything but tanky and no sane person will rush to the front in a glass canon.

Delivered to you by your local vehicle main with one tank with 18 HE shells.

I guess we are playing completely different game.

How about you use endless counters against tanks to take them out? Besides it’s BR2 that is king of HE spamming as their cannons can load shells significantly faster. While long 75/76mm take a long time to reload and are focused more on universal performance against both tanks and infantry.

BR5 is also much better you have propellers + jets spamming rockets and bombs 24/7 with no counter against them, and also tanks that have much higher tnt filler but they can be taken out by said tanks instantly just like BR3 tanks so they are only a problem for unexperienced and lazy players.

If you would ever use a tank you will see that those HE/HEAT shells are anything but reliable, half of the time they won’t kill anyone and just do zero damage or just bounce around.

Sounds like a skill issue and a lazy player that always want to play as a single squad no matter what happens in the match.

Dude it’s not just me. It’s an issue when the highest player gets stomped with 1500 points at the end of a 7 minute match, and that’s usually me.

The one person that delivered constructive criticism instead of making fun of me. I acknowledge the bias of being a vehicle main. I guess I am primarily an infantry main, although when I have to, I hop in a tank, although I only use them mainly for tank vs tank combat, unless I just want to goof off it or I’m not having a good day.

I agree with everything except for making tanks harder to kill. They are already hard enough to kill when you get up tiered, it would just be hell. And please stop with the lazy and inexperienced player. We were all here once. Although the difference is with you guys is you have a proper gaming setup and don’t have to deal with 180ms plus ping because you live in a completely different hemisphere.

But they are easy to kill in most cases. You have a ton of TNT, explosive packs and rocket launchers that kill in one “hit” unless you are unlucky. As long as you land a hit on the tank, it’s probably dead.
Only some uber campers 1km away that require a plane to destroy are somewhat problematic (depends on your flying skill, I have poor).

Sounds like what a tank should do, in fact 250 meter is even below their minimum effective range in RL.
The only issue is greyzone which can be a issue if:

  • Allied team has no (decent) pilots.

  • Enemy deploys shit like Tiger II or Super Pershing and your team has not enough adequate firepower.

  • Enemy tanks have the high ground or vastly superior spawns

That’s why you have engineer to build AT guns and guerrillas. Tanks have endless counters in Enlisted, while planes just two.

It sounds easy when you guys say it like that, but in practice in that particular map, it just wasn’t achievable.

It depends on many things.
If enemy has tunnel vision, it’s easy to flank him from the lake side and build AT gun there or even drive a tank. If you manage, it’s a free kill. City maps are much harder in this regard.
Problem arises when the enemy is actually attentive or you play against a coordinated stack that shares information. But even then, there isn’t much a tank can do vs plane.

For Moscow Cathedral you have many spots to build AT guns. Planes are also very easy to use there, you have two bombers with 6x 100kg bombs mate they are impossible to miss against a tank. And since it was obj inside village you can just use Panzefaust it would be probably the worst choice of those three as it has massive drop off but it’s still a choice if you are skilled.

In that map defender are inside the monastery
two entry are the tunnel and the collapsed wall, all in the view of attacker
How you even ran out of the wall, pass through all attacker force, open field, and set a AT gun

You guys are assuming we were in the monastery. The Germans didn’t get past the second point, which was still in the village. The biggest issue is that the Marder wasn’t visible anywhere I could get to. My T -34 was pretty ineffective due to the other corpses and my panzerfausts / Grbs didn’t have the range.

It just seems that’s all people play now. Stacks. They should be in a completely different game mode as it’s ruining the fun of enlisted.

You have multiple planes to take them out. Use them next time. And i don’t see you even trying to build AT gun with your engineer. Actually entire other river side is open for both engineers and tanks.

Again, it’s a bit hard when I don’t know where he was. He was that far back the red outline didn’t show where he was, and since I’m a f2p player, I’m not going to sacrifice 1 of my infantry squads or my tank squad for a plane, which I’m far less skilled with than a tank.

FYI: I wasn’t on the river bank because a: no line of sight and no engineer squad and b: I was too busy defending the objective.

and if you get stuck in a ditch for 2 minutes, you have to abandon the tank??

Ask for coordinates next time. You can also see enemy tanks shooting on the respawn screen. It’s not too hard to remember where they were. Most of the time they won’t be moving much and you can still hear them shooting and also their engine when you get closer.

So you can only blame yourself for not having engineer squad. Will it be a good lesson for you. And objective that gets shelled constantly by a tank will not last for long, tank is your main priority.
