Have a point system for planes

Nobody spawns planes at start, even with the added timer we have. Make it where the only way to spawn a plane is to gain enough points by killing infantry, kill assist, or capping points. Once you have enough points to spawn a certain aircraft you can then use it. If you die or suicide in it. Well you lose all the points it took to spawn. This will cut down on plane spam, and make players choose between tanks or planes for a primary vehicle to play. That way we don’t have the endless jumbo+P-47+a-20 spam that player cycle through all the time.

Sort of like Battlefront 2’s reinforcement system? I like it.

I like this approach better than the devs approach of setting the number of planes spawning to some arbitrary number.

If you want to fly a plane then earn it on the ground fighting. WT has a similar system for being able to bring a plane into battle … your player/team has to earn enough spawn points …

I don’t like the idea of rewarding players, with a lot of kills, with the equipment that allows to get even more kills. That’s one of the reasons why I hate CoD so much.

I see your point about this … could lead to more steamrolls … But the system you outined seems to distribute the points more fairly and evenly …

Still some kind of point system is still better than setting an arbitrary number … It allows the battle to get established on the ground first before planes start showing up.

It seems to me also that these spawn points should be accumulated by the team rather than individuals and once the team has accumulated enough points then the first person in the plane que gets to fly.

Also I think they should either increase the presence of AA on the ground or anytime one team has accumulated enough points to spawn a plane then the other team can spawn a fighter to counter it .

The fighter would spawn without bombs or rockets so can only be used to counter the other teams bomber

No because one troll can constantly spawn in vehicles only to die and waste points of the whole team.
The troll should be penalised, not his team.

Currently fighters are also equipped with bombs and rockets so the temptation is to treat it like a bomber and just rinse and repeat instead of going after the other teams bombers.

If a fighter actually spawned without bombs/rockets then only thing you can do is to go after the bombers.

I wouldn’t have points and instead just go for a locked respawn timer. A plane gets shot down, and that slot can’t be used for a minute or two, giving the other team some time to push forward without getting bombed. Having it go to the player with the most kills just makes it gamey and overly reward the best performers, while also punishing players who may be comparatively worse on the ground overall while being above average pilots.

As for fighters with bombs and rockets, I think its good for them to have a certain amount of air to ground capabilities, otherwise a player in a fighter with clear skies is essentially just wasting their time, and would be best off just suiciding so they can get back to the ground where they can contribute.

What isn’t great is how uneven the playing field is in that regard. In the normandy campaign, the top tier axis fighter has zilch in terms of air to ground weapons, while its allied counterpart gets 10 good rockets and a 250kg bomb. Meanwhile the German bomber has zero air to air weapons, despite having plenty of turrets on the model, while the Allied bomber has a decent air to air arsenal. A german bomber with no fighter is a sitting duck, while a german fighter with no enemy aircraft is useless. The allies on the other hand can attack and defend pretty well with both slots.

Lastly I think any system that makes replacing aircraft more difficult needs to come with some boost to ground to air capabilities. The current flack just doesn’t cut it for a variety of reasons when it comes to air targets, and could really use some love in that regard.

i have a better idea for balance planes in game, planes should have some kind of loadout point system, every plane should start with a small loadout of bombs/rockets, so u have to earn points to bring a bigger loadout, at least like this kamikaze plane players should not deal to much damage on ground units, and good plane players will not start with a huge loadout and will have to earn it with time.
