Half-Tracks Concept in Enlisted

Right now currently there isn’t exactly anything unique with Enlisted squad system other than having some cool guys that can carry certain guns or can build. The Half-Tracks in my Concept would be laid within the map as a drivable vehicle that players would use similar to the cars that are in the maps. Which would solve the issue with motorcycles in which they get yourself killed too easily. The half track would give small arms protection and most IMPORTANTLY can carry more then just at max… 3 People. Now the Half-tracks they could add in for Axis and possibly the soviets would be the Sd.Kfz. 251, one of the most iconic half tracks requiring a crew of 2 people and carrying 10 passengers. So this would be excellent half-track to carry multiple squads of people. Along with it, it would be armed with either an MG42 or MG34 making it perfect for infantry support. And for Britain, America, & maybe soviets the M3 Half-Track would be excellent. Armed with an M2HB with only a crew of 1, and can have 12 passengers. I think half tracks shouldn’t be existing on maps like D-Day for example but I think most maps in Enlisted can support more small infantry based transport. I think this would be one of the ways Enlisted can make itself unique with it squad system and it can be done for certain. And I am only talking about ones with Machine Guns, I think ones armed with a Cannon/Artillery Piece should be it’s own separate.

This has been suggested many times before but every time this is suggested there’ll be a smartass with the same response " maps too small for transport vehicles " Stoopid response

Although i do indeed acknowledge that in some campaigns and some maps it wouldn’t really be useful such as in Berlin, Stalingrad and some areas and maps of Normandy and Moscow

Yeah that’s why I think it would be better as a Map dependent Vehicle that exists similar to how the cars currently do. Would solve the issue with how motorcycles are currently as they are a squad and fucking useless. But having it be on the battlefield may spruce up the gameplay and quite needed in a World War II Game.

I disagree with that tho, what’s the use of a addition that you will only ever be able to use at the start of the battle before it gets destroyed, vehicles Spread around the map are basically hidden since there’s no indication that there’s a vehicle and after they get destroyed, they don’t come back ever, having them being a squad would be better and it would solve that, they either could be a additional slot exclusive to transport vehicles or could take a vehicle slot but would not count for the team maximum tank slots

It could work like how Battlefield V in which within the respawn point general area they would respawn after some time. I am no coder and I don’t know how broken this would be if the points move but that could be a potential fix idea. I to be honest am not sure other than that.

Would also give AT rifles something besides tanks to shoot at

map too small for halftrack to be put in use. so technically its a bad idea for invasion game mode

welcome to the clan of truckers ( :joy: )

despite what other thinks, halftracks can still be useful no matter the map or anything.

it’s the will of the user that matters and can change fates of battles.

plus, i don’t think those can be that harmfull as tanks or stuff due to their light armor.

count me in.

O really you forget the thing wo scare all driver here? Wo is able to stop bike, car, truck, tank, you really forget the

Immortal hardcoded scenario object

eh…

well, even tonks are afraid of those.

especially on berlin, and stalingrad 2.0 eletric berlinbogaloo.

I writed this

ik.

i can read thanks.

but tanks are the one that saffers the most from it.

Really stalingrad is open world compared to berlin

well, you’d be surprise how easy it can be to be stucked on both despite sizes.

I have yet to have the pleasure of stuck on stalingrad, the only people I have seen stuck on stalingrad, have merged with the wagons at the station or tried to pass over rubble buildings, in my defense I did not go beyond the station and the big V-shaped building as it just gives me those maps so I don’t know if there is anything else to get stuck in

Well.
Four main reasons why I don’t see the concept working here

  1. Maps
Quite obvious, I know. The sole campaign where I see APCs and trucks working is Tunisia. Normandy doesn’t work. Not only because of D-Day and Ver-Sur, but the other maps are also small either in terms of cp-spawn distances and/ or routes for vehicles. Stalingrad and Berlin is an insta no-go. They won’t work on streets and in Berlin they would insta die due to the masses of Panzerfäuste here. Moscow is hard for me as the maps are partly big, but Moscow also contain a lot of forests, villages and some hill engagements where APCs won’t work. I know the maps are going to be bigger, but I think we will stick to those small sections of the big maps for at least one year, probably way longer.

  2. Game pace
The game pace is already fast WITHOUT APCs. This is combined by small cps, low distances between spawns and cps, capture time, and the infantry gameplay. I don’t see any reasons how APCs can be supportive/ game-changing here in a game where most cps are max. 200m away, mostly just 100m or less.

  3. Community sucks hard
I have said it multiple times, and I am flattered to say it again. The majority of the Enlisted community sucks. They tend to snipe a lot (where they won’t need a M3), don’t use the most tactical class aka the engineer (so I doubt they will see the possible tactical value in using a APC), and are horrible at using vehicles (already see the masses of suicide drives). Most likely they wont use them like bikes or we will see a lot of burned Sdkfz and M3 here.

  4. Motorcycles
The bikes were maybe the most useless feature/ thing, DF ever added. Nobody uses them for obvious reasons. The free bikes have only two soldiers, the biker class doesn’t offer anything, they waste an important squad slot and offer a Kübel with a machine gun in return. So, why should someone pick an APC squad if the bikes were already a failure “market-wise”? There is a reason why they didn’t make it outside of Africa so far.

So unless you give them a cannon or a mortar, I forecast they will end like the motorcycles in Tunisia. Forgotten and doomed. The whole game, including the infantry gameplay and the maps, have to be overhauled to make vehicles except tanks and planes valuable.
(I dont like them as map vehicles as this should be reserved for motorized vehicles only)
