Yeet!
No one is aganaist add mechanized infantry but your suggestion topic lack of a lot of thing
This is what happens if is spammable
I’ve thought half tracks and other related vehicles could act as mobile spawn points BUT you can spawn on them even if there is an active battle and they’d be balanced because they are relatively light armored.
But then there was a wide variety of armaments for half tracks and some of them wouldn’t be suited for mobile spawn point role. For example, a flamethrower and assault gun half track could but a rocket and mortar wouldn’t.
Would they separate half tracks based on armament, some count as a separate slot like bikes and others as “tanks”, or would they all share the same class. Or would they be divided by role
I think we should stop seeing only the problems in everything. Red Orchestra already had half-track vehicles even in Heros & Generals they were present and there were no problems in using them. No one expects the developers to constantly redevelop the wheel. You can also take things from old games that worked well there. On the contrary, the game became much more interesting.
And by the way, the trucks and half-tracks in H&G actually functioned as mobile spawn points. The concept was not that bad!
They had like 10 times bigger maps.
And not every soldier had AT weapon. Quite the oposite.
They didn’t have rally points.
Redevelop? No.
But adjustments are very important. You can’t just copy paste a thing and expect it to work.
I just talked about it my post the other day!!
Theoretically they could lump half tracks, bikes, trucks, armored cars, etc into one overall class, Support Vehicle
But that comes with a few predicaments. Do they move armored cars like the Sd.Kfz.234 and M8 Greyhound into the Support slot. Would the Pacific LVT become a Support vehicle. Would there be 2 Support slots like there for tanks and planes.
Would too many vehicles clog up the game. Or should everything be under the single “tank” slot, so in their squad lineups some have a tank, plane, half track, etc.
OR, all vehicles take up the same slot BUT there are individual standards like there are now. Now you can take a tank or plane in your vehicle slots, but only two tanks are allowed in battle and only a single of each plane type. Well by default we can only bring one vehicle in our lineup BUT say half tracks are allowed two slots in battle separate from tanks so you could have 2 tanks and 2 half tracks in the match.
Vehicle use is kind of niche, not every match is crawling with them. Sometimes I just don’t play as a vehicle the whole match. So theoretically it wouldn’t be a problem
Did you actually play HnG?
One tip. Maps.
I think if/when halftracks are added, they should be armed with HMGs.
However if the HMG is used by the halftrack crew, they might treat the halftrack as an IFV, which it is not.
absolutely.
we need halftracks.
even more for mods
While I would love to see something like this added, there are 2 major issues that need to be resolved first:
Clutter around map that randomly stops you. They would need to definitely take another look through all the maps and clean up the weird unbreakable objects that even tanks get randomly stuck on.
Explosive packs. They are so plentiful and decimate tanks, I can only imagine how quickly these would get decimated. As I’ve said before, I hope they revise or remove explosive packs so all grenades have better balance of usage.
Molotovs or impacts would be understandably effective against the troops in these.
@106782730 how would you suggest implementation? As a limited vehicle that is spawned in like tanks, or something just on the map like jeeps and trucks.
Additional uses?
Could serve as a “rally point” of sorts similar to how BF4 amtracs function maybe?
Otherwise I could definitely see myself using it as an improvised ladder to get to second floors of building easier as offense.
Considering how little the motorcycles are used in Tunisia, I don’t think this would be a terribly difficult issue. As far as limitations, that would take some testing to see what all their applications are, and if its too strong to have numerous of.
I disagree, it adds flavor to the maps. It accentuates the war torn setting
It’s a war sandbox, sometimes you get blown up by tanks, sometimes tank gets blown up by you. Half tracks, trucks, etc are lightly armored and its part of their role. It’s no different than open top vehicles, you got firepower but you’re also vulnerable. It’s part of the package.
I think players have to “grow thicker skin” in general. Killing and dieing over and over again is part of the flow. Should a tank player throw his controller because I disabled his tracks with the PTRS. Should I throw my controller when a tank kills me in one shot. No. As I say, “Y U kill me!?! U no kill me! I kill U! gAmE bRoKeN!”
And when they eventually add Anti Tank grenades I want them to still keep Explosive Packs in general just because I have a soft spot for them after all this time. They could make it so they deal more damage to Engineer constructs in general, so they’d be good for clearing (obviously they shouldn’t one shot constructs because then why bother building if they’re weak, just that they should do considerable damage so a few should do the job). But of coarse they can be used as a quick anti tank weapon in a pinch, just like during the war
Without any special mechanics for squad halftracks without armaments, Tunisian bus would be superior to all of them.
maps are way too CQC centered, and infantry are already running faster then just about every ground vehicle
as much as i would love half tracks the maps are way too small and the game is way too fast paced
Pacific US halftracks should not be halftracks, but should be an LVT water buffalo.
Another factor is to enable CRSED size map
Lol, did you ever use explosive pack against m13 in pacific? The explosive pack works badly on it lol.
