most videos I find on youtube about people shooting STG, its very clearly shooting just as fast - if not a tiny bit slower than MP40s.
550 RPM would be perfect, however since simply lowering its RPM would be a massive unnecessary nerf, we should also buff its accuracy, dispersion and recoil respectively.
I think in general Germany as a faction would play more uniquely if its auto weapons would be overall less powerful up close, but better at mid range combat.
they werent that much precise irl but yes, the optimal adjustments would be less fire rate, but much better precision and a significantly higher damage
significant more damage is difficult to balance and could cause a lot of issues though - the goal could be less relevant “damage drop” because the bullets to kill could change “later” as in you can two hit kill at further away, but straight up buffing damage is a dangerous change.
anyways, I think something as basic as MP40 could deserve a simple dispersion buff for example.
Dispersion itself needs overhaul.
BR2 Breda 30 MG having less dispersion than state of art BR4 dual MG34 and 100 round Thompson M1928A1 having far less dispersion than the same Thompson M1928 but with 50 and 30 rounds are comical.
BTW AS-44 could also get it’s fire rate reconsidered, it’s currently 660 while irl it was about ~600.
significantly more:
basically the type hei damage: 13.9 & 11.8 (a bit upgraded)
one shotting anyone on low distance and twoshotting everyone on any distance is a must, also oneshotting with headshots at any distance would be perfectly complementary to the slower fire rate.
i proposed a similar system for the MKBs to make them either viable or just get them nerfed enough to be played on BR4
I dont know mate, one hit downs for STGs? what would be the point of FG42 then?
dont get me wrong, Red Orchestra had more or less one hit kill MKBs, but people used those mostly in semi auto unless super close up (as one would in the real world anyways), but Enlisted players are so used to be using full auto only, I dont think such drastic change would be appreciated.
I think after fixing rof they should be used as infantry weapons.
As Germany’s new generation standard rifle at that time, it was definitely more suitable for infantry than the FG42.
I would only like to see such change, if the devs dared to introduced more impactful faction differences - asymmetrical balance where each faction has a real advantage and weakness so every nation plays uniquely
