The US .50 is UBER to say the least, you can’t Dual with them in the Ha Go, they kill you almost instantly, rounds like that should not be able to pen at any angle and once they do they should have very little in the way of energy left to do damage with, I know Enlisted doesn’t do “Real”, but I am removing all the tanks from my line up as Japanese, since the 6 pounder kills my Ka Chi almost instantly, and again you cant dual with them since they take multiple hits to kill with a tanks gun for some reason.
I can kill the American halftrack easer and far quicker with my 50 mm knee Mortar than I can the Ha Go.
Japan is going to struggle with early tanks. No coax MG, WW1 thin armor. I can’t agree that .50bmg shouldn’t pen the current lineup of Japanese tanks though, it could and should. That said, the M13 and Stuart tanks are all remarkably vulnerable to infantry-portable japanese weapons, including the ridiculously powerful Type 97 AT “rifle” (it’s a cannon, IRL it weighs only 6kg less than the M2 Browning HMG with tripod and TE mech, but somehow these little japanese guys have no problem yeeting themselves around the battlefield with 115lb, 6ft rifle slung on their 100lb, 5’2" frame)
Yeah, I know, but the Type 97 is the most ridiculous example. I’m not complaining about it though, since the Japanese desperately needed something that the infantry could use to destroy US vehicles and gun placements at range, and it does that really well.
Also, I don’t want the devs to implement crew-served portable weapon mechanics. Can you imagine if every belt-fed LMG in the game suddenly only worked if you had two guys to carry it and the spare barrels/extra belts/tripod, and your reload speed got nuked, plus overheating if you lost your assistant? Or you couldn’t shoot the AT rifles unless you were mounted/prone, and couldn’t move the Type 97 at all with just one soldier? I like realism, but that might be a bridge too far.
This tank should be renamed to Ya-Ro or Te-Me. This tank is just scrap metal and it would’ve better if we can use the MG from the gunner view like the T-28s did but still a trash main gun with no HE at all.
What if we shoot a 122mm APHE on this one and might as well be left with nothing but parts of the hull.
I don’t want to go into it right now because I went on a really large thread about why it would not work a while ago, but you can’t really do that. The main gun and the tank MG are tied to two different individual crew members, like the Grant’s two cannons are but unlike the Grant there is no commander spot that lets you shoot both at the same time. The reason it is like this is twofold, firstly the devs want to include the fact that Japanese tank MGs had scopes on them, and secondly when the devs stole the models from War Thunder, they copied exactly how the crew worked, as that mg was tied to that spot and not the main gunner like most other MGs are.
As for playing the Ha Go, I actually quite enjoy it, It’s really small but has good gun depression so you can get to some really obnoxious places and just continuously farm the oncoming stream of M13s and LVTs. The MG being tied to another slot is a bit annoying, but after playing the Grant for a bit before Pacific dropped, I don’t really mind it. The MG also has a stupid amount of gun depression, so take that as you will.
This gun was later developed into the M2HB Browning which with its .50 caliber armor-piercing cartridges went on to function as an anti-aircraft and anti-vehicular machine gun, capable of penetrating 0.9 inches (23 mm) of face-hardened armor steel plate at 200 meters (220 yd),[6] 1 inch (25 mm) of rolled homogeneous armor at the same range,[7] and 0.75 inches (19 mm) at 547 yards (500 m).[8]
Historically the US commonly used the M2 to defeat early Japanese tanks, hell the US even made training videos on how to defeat Japanese tanks with rifles, not even heavy machine guns.
The M2’s steel core AP and API easily cut through any early vehicles Japan could field.
Armor lacks yes, but that’s expected with underperforming Japanese tanks, it needs a working hull MG & HE rounds then it would be a useful little light tank.
