Guns Should do Damage by Caliber

I agree but Bolt actions should still do more on long ranges because of their design witch made them shoot bullets with more power than semi auto

I am not saying completely remove them or nerf them I am just saying that semi autos at a reasonable distance like 50m and under should at least knock down the person who was shot. Bolt action snipers with telescopic sights and more damage at range would still be Viable.

That is what you would get with 10-12 damage. You pretty consistently knock them down into that “downed” state where they must use a medkit or they die after hitting them once, killing them with the second shot.

Bolt actions should do 14-15 damage, which is a consistent one-shot kill. They should also have less damage falloff, meaning they maintain that higher damage out to further distances.

They would not deal equal damage despite being equal in caliber. That is why I am against caliber-based damage.

I don’t think guns should deal damage by caliber because for example: in tests, PPSh showed to have more power than MP despite being lower cal. Caliber is not the only factor when taking bullets into account

Also this.

.45 fudds forget that force = mass*acceleration rather than just mass.
of course with guns, overpenetration is also a factor. 5.45x39’s “poison bullet” effect is the perfect example of this, as it causes more damage by how much it slows down within the body.

A lot of modern bullets either maintain their shape as much as possible through penetrator (hardened tungsten) cores for armor penetration, or expand as much as possible (hollow point) to deal as much damage as possible

5.45x39? you mean the one on the AK-74?

And any modern AKs

To be fair there should be ‘‘module’’ damage through limb healthbars like in Red Orchestra.
This could be implemented like modular damage in war thunder, where limbs and organs have an overall percentage.
Would be much superior than a lone healthbar imo.

Except AK-103 and AK-15. I think both of them use a new modernised 7.62

That’s going to put an end to any plans of making the game as large as the devs seem to want to make it. It was supposed to feature 50v50 at some point, wasn’t it ?

It’s Gaijin, plans could change in any direction at any time.

Sadly enough, I fear that you’re right. The last mention of 100 players I found is from 2016.

I highly doubt you’d ever be able to find a match with those numbers with the current playerbase.
