Should add the russian sks-45 I can give detailed pics
if they put it in it will be a premium weapon for berlin all new guns inserted after a certain point are all automatic which is bad sks is only semi-automatic
Darn I’d honestly probably pay a premium for it to
Well, if it will be better in terms of characteristics.
This depends on how well we value historical context, I can’t find any evidence that the SKS was in service in '45 or at Berlin, but that’s not necessarily an argument against it. If anyone has such a source, I’d love to see it, though
not necessarily. It would be a neat addition, even if it’s ahistorical, but it’s a semi-auto chambered for an intermediate cartridge - 7.62x39mm isn’t all that different from 7.92x33mm in the STG - and it’s loaded with stripper clips instead of a detachable magazine. It’d probably be a slow reload, high-RoF, two-shot kill weapon at average ranges, suffer from semi-auto inaccuracy, but get the bayonet. All in all, I think it would be cool even if it doesn’t make sense. Still don’t think they’ll add it though, since we have the prototype sks in 7.62x54r as a premium weapon, and the RPD was in CBT for berlin but not in OBT. They seem to care about history, at least a little.
at first since RPD is still on the soviet weapon’s logistics screen
Yeah, it’s still pictured, but it’s not available. Like the allies’ colt service revolver is pictured, but not available in every campaign, or axis’ Mg42, STG and C96, which aren’t in every campaign. It’s just a picture, they just recycled them for use in every logistics screen.
I’d bet the images are more representative by the time the game leaves OBT.
i still think they’ll add the RPD as an end game weapon, maybe around lvl 39, with more historical weapons being before that
God, I hope not. The RPD 44 never saw combat in WW2, unless someone has a source that I haven’t heard of that says otherwise. Both Soviet/Axis campaigns are better balanced than Normandy or Tunisia, I wouldn’t say the Soviets need a belt fed LMG to keep up. Germans have better MGs and the FG42 in Berlin, Soviets get the PPSh/PPD in both and the T50 in moscow, not to mention the stalinium UFOs I love flying.
rpd entered service in 1950 but was manufactured and developed for testing since 1943
And VE day is May 8 1945.
The RPD shouldn’t be added to the campaign track. Experimental and prototype weapons belong on premium squads and gold orders.
tell those who added an assault rifle being tested in the moscow campaign, if they want to add rpd in berlin we can’t prevent it, then I only report the historical facts
you mean the MKb 42(h), which actually saw combat use during operation barbarossa and were in service in the thousands less than a year later?
the battle of moscow ended on april 20, 1942
testing of the mkb42h in field began July 9, 1942
so it shouldn’t be there or it should be premium
the campaign is called battle of moscow no barbarossa offensive
By one account, the gun saw action as early as April 1942 when 35 of the only 50 prototypes then in existence were parachuted into the Kholm Pocket.[6]
the Devs have already stated in the past that the campaign names are not meant to indicate a restriction to a specific battle, specifically that the Normandy campaign is intended to represent the whole of Operation Overlord, so it’s not a leap to imagine the Moscow campaign might encompass Operation Barbarossa, or the defenses of Stalingrad and Leningrad.
Honestly, I’d almost be upset about the MKb 42(h) being in Moscow if they hadn’t given it to snipers. At best, it allows axis players to have another squad type that’s decent at CQC, which they need to help balance the PPSh/PPD.
Sure, the can. I just don’t think they should, since I can’t find any evidence or accounts that claim the RPD saw combat use before the end of the war, which is obviously a hard end date. Even if it’s not a full stop, five years is a hell of a gap.
RPD would be a good fit in a Korea campaign, though.
Although the RPD was ready for mass production during the final stages of World War II, it was adopted in 1948 and large scale delivery of the weapon did not begin until 1953.[1]
From the same article, sir. Your source is wrong, at worst, or self-contradictory at best.
one wikipedia eng is shit and two, the weapon used in 1950 is rpd using ammunition of the ak47, the weapon used since 1944 is rpd44
from ita wikipedia (the good one)
Although it was used in small batches by Soviet troops in the final stages of World War II, it was officially adopted as the Soviet Army’s standard squad armament in 1948 and distributed in quantity from the early 1950s until 1960, when it was replaced by the Soviet Army. RPK light machine gun, a specialized version of the AKM.
I’m just gonna gloss over the generalization that english language wikipedia is shit, since we were both using it until it didn’t suit your argument.
Does that citation from italian wiki cite sources for that information? If not, my source is still better, because it cites a paper text source - Encyklopedia najnowszej broni palnej—tom 4 R–Z.
If i’m not mistaken, the RPD-44 is just the RPD, The soviets seem to be naming small arms with numbers for the year they were trialed, designed, or adopted, examples PPSh41 (1941) PPs42 (1942) and PPS43 (updated 1943), SVT38 (accepted 1938) and SVT40(rifle updated 1940.) Additionally, I can find no evidence that there was ever a plan during the development of the RPD to chamber it in 7.62x54mmR, supported by the fact that 7.62x39 was designed before any of the weapons eventually made to use it, in 1943.
