The brits don’t need a semi auto, instead they should simply lower the recoil and increase the speed of using the bolt on the lee enfield, it would be an advantage early on and in real life it was a better Rifle for fast shooting than the Kar 98. it would add to the game instead of detracting.
I think having difference in levels and units actually makes the game better, its not like everyone started at the same time and is progressing equally anyway so having one side slightly more powerful for a few levels isn’t a game breaker. The Brits and americans had better “average” guns as their main weapons for infantry the lee enfield held 10 rounds and the M1 used stripper clips. the Germans had far better smg and semi auto Rifles like the Gewer were about the same as the m-1 in performance so while the germans would start out with the Kar 98 and should have to use it for a while, letting them upgrade to the gewer midgame would balance the massive advantage in MG and smg that the germans would have. the Bar is the equaliser for the americans in the lmg.
the way you could balance this is by making the english or commonwealth (nz, Canada, aus) the rifleman 1 with enfields the americans rifleman 2 with garands and then rifleman 3 garands with grenade. for the germans, the kar 98 for rifleman1 the gewer for rifleman 2 and Gewer with grenades for rifleman 3.
for assaulters assaulter 1 greasegun american 82 airborne assaulter 2-sten assaulter (british para)3 tommygun (british and american commando units)
axis assaulter 1 Italians with beretta,assualter 2 German with mp 40 assaulter 3 German with fg42
move the FG42 to assault class only where it would still be amazing but not so abused by giving it to 9 riflemen in a troop. (besides it was a mainly paratroop gun anyway. )
other things you could balance with also include less waiting time betweem spawns and more tickets, in normandy especially the lack of reinforcements really hindered the germans but they were in far better positions.
make upgrading guns easier, its just stupid right now and way too grindy.
i rather have a paratrooper squad that can actually use paras somehow and have them only for them.
and vegetal1-5 for troopers/radio squads etc. as shown in alpha stages of berlin.
on normandy, cant care less. mp43> everything.
but to be fair, its only a mtr of time until stg or any mp variant comes into berlin… soooooo
PRACTICALLY… it can be used as a LMG - works well enough, but it was made very light and so has some pretty marginal limits compared to actual LMG’s made for the job.
Eg see this video where he discusses that it would probably not be accepted by anyone today due to lack of strength - from about 5.50.
Actually the K98k uses stripper clips as well, the FG42 is developed as an “all purpose gun” to replace the K98k and MG34 for paratroopers, so it isn’t a lmg.
Btw: it’s “Gewehr” (like in -Wehr-macht), not Gewer.
FG42 also wasn’t equipped by the entire army so restricting it would make sense anyways. hell the first time we saw FG it was apart of the gunner class with the 9th fallschirmjager division
Seen the thread, and thought wth, how is a select fire rifle, a MG, and why would it go MG squad, thought better of it, but glad some also notice this and post better reply, than i would of.
How about a point system that matches the stars? Lets say that each squad has a certain amount of points, each weapon costs a certain number to equip (H&Gish). An M1 garand costs 1 point on Normandy as its a 4 star weapon there meaning everyone can use it. In Tunisia the same weapon is 6 stars so more points which means it is now much more limited. This would make people think what they want to bring but still allow for several soldiers to have great weapons and not be spammed
this is not true they had better stuff than the us not russia but the us used m1 almost exclusive they didn’t use any bolt action during ww2
again how is the bar on the same level as mg 32/42 or any other mg in game it has 20 round clip to the 50 or 75 rounds the mg 30/mg 32/mg42 so how is that fair all german smg have a larger clip than the Americans higer rate of fire less recoil
German MGs are more controllable because the bolt has already cycled forward by the time you feel the recoil impulse, so it slightly dampens the recoil. that and unlike the M1918 things like the MG34 and MG42 are purpose-built machineguns. The bar is rifle that is also a machinegun.
