Grayzone camping suggestion

It’s present in all campaigns and annoying to deal with , additionally some players don’t even have a way of dealing with such campers, they’re either new to the game ,someone else is hogging the vehicle slot or the vehicle they have can’t deal with said enemy eg. Puma/pak38 vs Jumbo or KV-1 vs Pz. III on any invasion map. You often can’t outflank people in vehicles either bcs the only way to them is through an area full of enemy infantry or there’s no chance your gun can go through anyway.
I suggest expanding the playable area by 100-200 m in every direction, showing the tankers their respective grayzone and implementing a condition that if a tank is withing it’s own safezone it cannot deal any damage to the enemy and vice versa, if a player went back too far to the grayzone (not within reach of infantry carrying only explosive charges/TNT) the gun would be disabled while the tank itself would not become immune again.

But how will the this help the campers who enjoy farming xp from the safety of a magical barrier that the enemy cannot cross?

For example: say I am a noob grey zone camper, and the only way for me to get 100+ kills, is when nobody is allowed to come within a 1/4 mile proximity…

If anybody has the audacity to try and destroy my grey-zone camping tank, my magic force field will slay them for getting too close.

Planes shouldn’t be allowed to penetrate this force field either… because as a grey zone camper, it’s not fair and I should be catered to in every single way.

I like your suggestion BTW

Spawning soviet firing squad and shoot them for treason.

Greyzone timer needs to go back up, you cant spawncamp if your time in the greyzone is limited.

We usedto be able to run into the greyzone and kill a tank, now it’s 3 seconds and you start dying.

hot take, grey zone camping is only a problem for thoses that cant play outside just rushing in

Sometimes it’s not possible to deal with safezone campers because:

  • Your AT gunner got sniped the second he tried crossing an area
  • Your weapon (Cannon/Plane/AT rifle/Bazooka) isn’t good enough to kill said enemy(M5A1/50kg bombs/Playing whack-a-mole/Enemy is too far to hit reliably)
  • Their teammates actually defending said camper from anyone trying to hit him
  • They’re in such position you basically have to use your team as bait to not get blown up

The biggest offenders of this are Jumbo, Tiger I/II ,Panther , Kv1, IS-1/2, Matilda, Ka-Chi.
Basically tanks that have very good guns/armor/both in comparison to what a newer player has access to, ones that require a certain amount of knowlage on how to kill them.
Jumbo - Mg port/Tnt on engine/ shoot just on or behind the front sprocket if they angle
Panther - Best chance from the side as the front is inpenetrable unless you spam the Calliope rockets at them/Tnt on engine or roof of turret
Tiger I- TnT charge on the engine or turret/Shooting the side trying to hit the ammo or shooting the driver first for a whack-a-mole type of kill.
IS-1/2 - Turret sideshots/ Tnt on engine, Aim for ammo or to kill 3 of the 4 crew members
Tiger II - Like Tiger I but back of the turret also has a ton of ammo
Matilda - TNT charge on top of the tank
Kv - 1 - TNT charge specifically on the engine and kill any crew getting out / Sneaky shoots at the flattest part you can see from at least a 75mm AT gun, Kv1 has 75mm on most of the tank, (Front and sides, turret all around 75mm, the back has 70mm, engine deck 30mm and turret top 40mm)
Ka-Chi - playing whack a mole from the side
Most of those also can be killed by AT mines/ Thrown tnt packages, but that requires the enemy to either drive over your mine or be close enough to get killed by package.

quite a normal thing to happen even if the grey zone was not in the question

tracking the tank and killing the crew when they hop out to fix it is a valid tactic and again in most cases again either you can kill it or you cant

again can and does happen without they grey zone

its a tank it has weapons that can shoot LONG ranges and sling HE and have lots of ammo, if the tank is so fragile that anyone can put in LOW effort to destroy or harass a tank then its not a tank its a piece of garbage

tips about things you should be doing when some one is camping in a place that you jsut cant deal with
SMOKE SMOKE SMOKE SMOKE make thier lifes hell with smoke

You can ask soviets how well theyr stalinium tanks did without infantry support.
I can tell, not very well.
And tbh situation havent really changed since ww2.

Yeah just flank that Tiger sitting 200m behind greyzone and on high ground. Just flank enough.

Also, tanks are fragile piece of garbage.

spawn camp. and not for tanks, but for inf .since that never happens on the train map for example. ever…

then come here complain about that.

its the enemy play area. either one likes it or not most of the times your team tonkas will be on the enemy greyzone too.

deal with it. get good with bazookas/fausts / planes . i m yet to see a tonka that is such a big deal that next life i wont deal with it.

Interesting points, but you seem to ignore a couple of things. You’re not taking into account that said tankers:

  • More often than not will drive behind cover to repair said tank if they have any brain cells (what do you expect to do on Omaha to them when they’re sitting on top of the hill [right if you’re playing Axis, left side for Allies], you CAN get to the top of that hill within maybe 2 min, seems easier to do in a Panther than in Tiger tho
  • Getting good with AT projectiles isn’t gonna do much if the tank is let’s say sitting on a cliff 250m or more away from you, shot dispersion applies to all weapons and what are you gonna do to a Panther’s front with a 75mm M3 cannon from a distance, shoot the turret and hope you hit the barrel so that they move into cover for 10 seconds and come back to 1 shot you?
  • Smoke grenades have a rather small radious in comparison to the area watched over by a tank AND you need to grind for them to buy an amount that would make a difference if you’re not gonna spend money
  • Vehicle slot might be occupied by another player, do you know how insane it is to rely on other players to take out enemy vehicles as priority?
  • A NEW player has to deal with it more often than not, which means you have the most basic stuff.
  • A WELL ARMORED tank will harass you and you can’t do anything from the distance

Expanding the playable area would mean also moving a couple of things around, mainly spawnpoints so that the players don’t get spawncamped, other than that there’s this whole thing called “spawn protection” very new in development you might have not heard about it, it lasts pretty long in my opinion, at least long enough to locate where the enemy is shooting from.

Also i’m referring to all campaigns i’ve played (Stallingrad, Moscow, Berlin,Normandy,Pacific), if one map doesn’t have that problem, GREAT let’s make sure others also fix that.
And as i wrote before:

  • Infantry AT weapons have bullet dispersion as any other weapon in addition to the projectile falling to the ground much more rapidly than a bullet, so you’re not gonna do anything to a tank if it’s camping a wide open area visible from their safezone, especially if the vehicle is hiding behind a ruined building or a small hill.
  • Hoping for another player to deal with the tank is insane, as is hoping that no other player is occupying the slot so that you can take out your weapon of revenge kills.

And lastly you’re hoping that there’s nobody guarding the tank with an AA, no decent pilot in the air or no infantry squad supporting said vehicle.

I don’t know about you, but i think a tank player shouldn’t be allowed to just sit in his safety corner firing HE into the points killing random amount of players in a game which heavly relies on infantry to do the brunt of the work. Don’t you find it kinda stupid that a single unreachable by infantry tank wounds most of the opposite team’s soldiers if not outright killing squads can decide the game’s results.

Make the infantry support the tank in order to be a viable weapon to use or make the tankers stick with friendly infantry, pushing with them to clear fortified areas the infantry has trouble with.
And if you’re really concerned about spawn camping, you should be adressing tank campers, since often they’ll shoot near the enemy spawn on maps/points where it’s possible

Russian tanks suffered from horrible situational awareness during ww2

they cant move if they are tracked

avoid it, smoke it, smoke shells are amzingly good as they are large and last while

smoke nades are early unlocks but yes they were recently nerfed

as a tank is designed to do?
the other two are not worth the time

  • Said camper either doesn’t need to move or is in hull-down position
  • You’re hoping that the slot is free/ the tank has smoke shells
  • You still need to spend enough weapon orders for those grenades to make a differance
  • The game seems to be based around playing with squads of infantry with additional support from 1 type of vehicle for each team
  • If you get marked by the enemy it doesn’t matter if you shot smoke at the enemy tank, if there is a second one it’s even less useful

Why are you defending that sort of players anyway, this type of playstyle shouldn’t be rewarded.

And that hasn’t really changed since ww2 either.

play the game you can get upwards of 3-6 on a middling game and the most i ever got in one match that i seen was 20

its a %50-%50

they need to move it you smoke them and if they are “hull down” they are easier to bomb

and would you rather have a game where the tank is less concerned about helping the team and not getting det pak’ed with in seconds of spawning

smoke them 1st

im not defending the players, im defending the fact that that you are attacking the only way tanks to be tanks in this sorry excuse of a “realisim” “large scale” game

If i remember correctly the “realism” part of the advertisement was removed a long time ago. You should play hell let loose if you’re into realism rather than casual gameplay.
So far your advice can be boiled down to “grind for equipment and hope to get lucky”, lucky that you don’t get noticed by the tanker/ infantry and marked, lucky that the slot is free, lucky that you can get your shot off first, lucky to bo paired up with competent team. And it is frankly useless to someone like me, because I know how to deal with tanks, and useless to newer players because they can’t do anything anyway with tnt packs.

I don’t want a situation where there’s only 10-15 players who aren’t newbies playing a campaign crushing all the new arrivals making them question if it’s even worth playing. I want the experience to be better overall to draw people in so that they can rebalance every campaign with time.
But what about you ? You claim you’re not defending vehicle camping, yet your only input on the matter is “use equipment you unlock further on”. You haven’t even suggested any solution like perhaps “lower the amount of xp they get when they’re out of the playable area” or even “restructure the maps so that they have to be within reach”
Give me some actual input here, what do you think could be changed in game so that you’re discouraged from just sitting in one spot outside of bounds for the whole game, or write:

  • “I think the whole thing is fine as it is now and no amount of discussing it will make me change my mind”

So we’ll both stop wasting time on this matter by talking to each other.
IF you really want the game to be realistic, you’d need to make the playable area bigger anyway, tanks would still need to be supported by infantry, and if you’re gonna claim something like “but blitzkrieg with only tanks was very effective” you’ve got to look at the numbers of tanks involved irl vs in game.
