Gray Zone Removal (and a few other ideas)

Well, as the title suggests, maybe we should just remove the gray zone. Or, at the very least, diminish it for all classes. I felt like guerillas were the fix to gray zone camping, but apparently they’re just a horrible addition that creates spawncamping. Personally, this is something I haven’t experienced, and when I happen to be behind enemy lines, finding the main spawn is something I just hate to do since it usually ends in my demise. Sure, probably a skill issue, but I think the easiest way to remove this ‘issue’ is to just reduce the grayzone down until “x” distance from the main spawn(s). This way, if there is a tank in the grayzone, your average soldier can reach it without magically turning into dead two seconds after he enters the zone.

If this doesn’t suit your fancy, then maybe make it so that soldiers can be in the zone for a few minutes before dying so that they can take out that tank but not be able to be in the zone the whole time.

If you don’t like a big chunk of the zone being removed for all classes, then just do it for guerillas. A better way of saying this is to removed a portion of the area that they can go into (i.e. the buffer around the main spawn that I mentioned beforehand). Yes, I already know that there is an area you can’t go into around the spawn, but I am saying to just enlarge this area so that the guerillas have some limitations.

But wait, what about that one jerk who just sits in the spawn and obliterates anything and everything without ever having to worry about any infantry? Well, if we diminish the grayzone, then we could also add a 60-90 second timer for the player to get out of the spawn. If they don’t, then they are punished as if they are in the grayzone. This way we can still protect the MAIN spawns (not rallies because they are meant to be able to be destroyed) while still offering a way to remove the camping because of the grayzone.

PS: I love my guerillas, they are probably my favorite squad. However, I’m just throwing this out there since I am seeing other people having issues with them. This fix I’m not opposed to, I would actually be okay with guerillas maybe having their grayzone abilities diminished a bit like this.

I am open to any rebuttals or additional ideas!

just make it impossible to shoot inside, or into and out of the gray zone it is not hard, it should be to protect spawning and nothing more not a get out of jail free card.

Everything posted here is fantastic and I think it would be a great way to go about it, all of the above ideas could work well. I do say though, it would be that much more hilarious if anyone dying in the grey zone areas specifically burst into an explosion of fire.

If a plane cannot drop a bomb inside a structure, then a tank should not be able to shoot inside a stucture. Hell, I can’t even kill someone inside a building when half the roof is missing, yet I can kill a whole squadron inside a building by shooting a tank round through the peep hole on a door.

I said into, inside or out of the gray zone, the gray a no kill zone. So a tank could not shoot a tank outside the gray, inside nor could a tank outside the gray shoot one inside. The gray should be a breather to get ready to battle not a defensive shield.

Only first 20-30m should be the greyzone rest should be available to be roamed around by everyone. There would be more default spawn points that we could pick by pressing or holding all around the edge of the greyzone (20-40% of the map) which would be great addition to avoid spawn grape of one team against another team.

Maybe also do the thing in War Thunder, where you are visible on the map if you are near the enemy spawn zone.

I do agree with this, with a bit of a modifier. If we reduce the grayzone to maybe 30-40 meters past the spawn, then sure, but otherwise right now the grayzone is much too big to do this IMO. I’m all for it though if the grayzone gets reduced.

Hahahaha that’s great!! I would love to see that as well (but I mean there goes realism)

All for this too!

“Hey guys check this new guerrilla gimmick, it will fix gray zone even though everyone mention that they can spawnkill, trust me!”

Who would have guessed…

(Btw Japan is still the only faction with only one guerilla squad : both Soviets and germans have a premium one and USA has an event one)

Everyone talks about guerrillas being issues, yet whenever I pull out my squad, they get sniped from all directions before I even get to the gray zone. It’s like the AI instantly see me as the most valuable target.

I have never used my Guerrillas to go after tanks in the grey zone, or spawn points for that matter. TBH, I never remember when I am playing that I can take them into the gray zone, however I don’t have a problem with one squad being allowed to do this. I personally think Tanks have enough artificial protections set up by DF already that one squad being able to penetrate a DF imposed boundary is going to affect the game outcome far less then a Tank sitting comfortably in the grey zone continuously pounding the cap point. I would also be in favor of allowing paratroopers full access to gray zones, as dropping behind enemy lines was what they did for the most part in REAL WAR.

If people want to get rid of the Guerrillas ability to go into the gray zone that’s fine, but push the gray zone boundary considerably further back, so if Tanks want to be in their safe space they have to move further back. Hey, I get absolutely zero protections when I am flying, but I don’t complain about it, and most of the time I get shot down at the reload point far from the front line.
