The AN/M2 “Stinger” – basically a modified .30 cal aircraft gun turned into a ground weapon with an insane ROF of around 1,350.
Great “Forgotten Weapons” YouTube video on the history of this MG:

Oh yeah baby
Me like
Me like a lot
(That iron sight looks atrocious, though.)
you already have a lawn mower do you really need your own personal one is the M13 not enough for you
Not on the Allied side, so yeah — it’s not enough.
Excellent — good to know.
Plus the Axis already has its own personal lawnmower in the converted aircraft-to-infantry MG 15 — so sure, why not.
Fix the sight and correct the belt and then that would make a perfect event squad weapon. The fact only 5 of them were ever built makes it perfect for an event squad. Also a Tony Stein medal soldier could be added to complete the squad.
Mmmm yes.
This would be ecelent.
Standard allied sights, then.
Haha better American mg42 go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrttttttttttttttttt
Ideal for a common trooper weapon.
But that thing sucks.
The good news is that, according to the Forgotten Weapons video, the rear sight is actually a BAR sight strapped on.
So, all it’s needed to turn this gun’s sight from crap to awesome is to change the 3D model so that the elevation grid is folded down, and the gun uses the same (excellent) sight of the BAR M1918A2 in game.
Darkflow pls
So apparently even soldiers thought their sights are shit and decided to change them (as the gun was one big field modification from what I recall).
Nope, what you see in the current model is already a BAR sight, just it’s elevation grid is raised and the sight is set at 10 (which I guess is 1000 feet? Yards? Washing machines? Stupid Yankee units).
If the sight was folded down, it would be identical to the current BAR A2 sight.
Oh, then I take back what I said.
Though I still can’t understand how someone can use so atrocious sights. (Saw them irl, still shit.)
Guess that’s what you get when the manufacturers / testers prioritize accuracy in aimed shots over clearer vision and situational awareness in a multiple targets/threats environment.
Probably makes sense in a real world situation, when your doctrine tells that your squad support weapon is supposed to be used from a static position to suppress specific target areas, rather than braced like an oversized SMG.
