Seriously, I have complained about wrong depiction of tank performance in Berlin Moscow and Normandy so far, but non of them get even close to how unbelievably broken the KV1 is right now.
The Jumbo back in the day at least had a horrible gun, but the KV 1 vs Panzer IV is not even comparable to T34 85 vs King Tiger… the performance is more like Panzer IV J vs King Tiger
I’ll give you another tip when facing the t34. Granted, it’s a beast of a vehicle… but it “sees” as well as a mole.
You can pretty much only look with the gunner, when driving it, which means it’s much easier to flank it and ambush it.
This thing roughly sees in front only through a 45 degree cone. Knowing this, you’ll often be able to attack it from the sides: hold your fire til you are in position, be patient. The turret back, from the sides, is a guaranteed ammunition explosion.
If it saw you… aim for the turret cheeks and pray it doesn’t 1 shoot your vehicle.
it makes zero sense that the T34 should one shot kill the Panzer IV while the Panzer IV cant - even at the turret.
flanking and ambushing or using planes or using infantry is not a “suggestion” on how to deal with the tank, instead its a way to say " the tank is OP, stop trying to fight it with your tank, you will lose"
I’m only showing the ammo rack shot there. The 75mm PzGr 39 shell of the Pz. IV have 96 mm of penetration while the 76mm BR-350A shell of the KV-1 only have 69 mm of penetration, it’s been datamined.
You can penetrate the front plate of the KV-1 with the 75mm kwk 40, also I posted a clip not like I made it up.
I posted a clip of one of the many ways to kill a KV-1, but that’s not possible surely the testing range is different from the match, it’s not possible that you don’t know where to shoot, it must be the game.
You don’t get it. I’m not saying things like when the problem used to be pz4 vs jumbo and ppl joked about flanking it.
I’m listing a real flaw of the t34, that he can exploit. I acknowledge the t34 is boosted, but if knowing what I said can make OP’s life better, then I’ll have done my part.
Yes, and the turret of Panzer IV (all versions) have only 50 mm thickness. One hit from T-34 or KV-1 and the tank is destroyed.
EVEN if someone will be trying to angle and rotate turret, just like angling the body, then he will loose the enemy from the sight and the effective armor is still only 50- 60 mm.
True, but that shot is rarely possible on the streets of Stalingrad, where the tanks are hiding between various trash and barricades.
The game is awfully unbalanced.
Just need to remember the focus of this game isnt armor on armor like warthunder. Infantry is king. I cry when i see kv-1 and t-34s driving amongst your team mates and no one has a clue that 1 properly placed TNT and its any easy kill.
And there is a hard counter for tanks (even though yes, t-34s have been boosted)

Personally i think the 75mm long should chunk t-34s as easily as a t34 chunks panzer IVs…but hey. There are other ways.
depends on which version since the 4G is absolutely comparable to the kv-1(which has the same cannon as the f2 so no problems facing down a kv), also you are extremely over estimating the gun of the kv-1 since this is the l-11 not the zis cannons so it has at most 78mm of penetration in MODERN war thunder so it’s likely 75mm in pen in enlisted, keep in mind that the jumbo’s m72 solid shot has about 10mm more pentration compared to the l-11’s APHE.
so yeah kv-1’s gun hurt if it gets through, the issue is that it has to get through first

I acknowledge that the KV-1 is harder to destroy, but it’s not impossible to kill as some people suggest it to be.
Anywhere that is highlighted green can be penetrated by the 75 mm KwK40 L43.
You can consistently get a 1 shot ammo detonation if shooting at the front hull ammo rack, and consistently get a 2 shot turret ammo rack detonation. The only caveat is that you have to hit the same side of the turret cheek twice as the ammo rack is not directly behind the turret cheek.
KV-1 is a bit harder to kill but not an indestructible vehicle.
From what I read, there was one captured kv-1 modified to this (more armor, 75mm german gun)

I have it in warthunder. Absolute beast till they upped the BR. Its quite funny using captured russian tanks vs russian players. They have no idea what to do about their own tanks lol
Its a pitty we cant take German (really applies to all nations) players through boot camp before they get into match making

Show them exactly what they need to know for general battlefield situations haha. How to deal with KV-1s and T-34s (tanks in general) would be right up there after rally points.

Kv 1 and t 34 were superior irl.
In a 1 vs 1 battle germans couldnt deal with them.
Stukas, 88 mm cannons and and stug 3 were capable of penetrate russian tanks in the war before tiger 1.
Bu we cant use 88mm and all stug variants are paywalled
This is also the reaoson tiger 1 production was rushed .
Germans planned to mass produce it in mid 1943 but after seeing how potent russian tanks are, they decided to rush the production in late 1942.
I was suprised when i saw there were no tigers in stalingrad campaign when it first introduced.
Germans actually used a tiger battalion at fall blau operation.
Superior to what? Panzer III J, not Panzer IV F2.
The germans suffered because the F2 hasn’t been a thing yet, they basically only had short 50mm guns to deal with those tanks - thus the shock reaction of the German high command.
Once the long barreled Panzer IV came into service the Blitzkrieg was already at a halt.
The long 7.5cm gun was great and effective up to the end of the war, and in no way “insufficient” against T34 and KV tanks.
Your 88mm claims are simply wrong.
Superior Strategically. Failed tactically. Probably the only tank in the world labeled a major success with a death to kill ratio of 3 to 1. 6 to 1 in 1942.
Also, Historically speaking the idea about putting the 88 on a tank came from Africa because it was used with great success to take out heavy armored Matilda tanks - which the Panzer III J also sucked against.
