Give the medic squads a better purpose to be used

Besides sniper squads, medic squads are some of the more useless squad types in the game. Here’s a way to improve this squad

Give them Ambulance trucks:

  • the truck would have a radius which heals all friendly bots and players by a small fraction every 3-4 seconds

  • when the vehicle is maxed, it ressurects a dead squad member every 15 seconds as long as the entire squad isn’t wiped (only the first truck has this ability to avoid res’ stacking)

Hmm. Interesting idea, but I’d rather the driver class be more fleshed out with this type of truck.

Medics aren’t useless. They’re a cheap assault class that can help turn the tide of a point if the player actually drops their medical boxes in the right place.

I think players also need to realise that once they do drop a box, they can then pick up a dropped secondary weapon in its place, giving the medic even more versatility.

I actually feel quite stupid now that I forgot that . Though I do have a rebuttal, the paratrooper squad with airborne deployment turned off do better by a landslide when it comes to being a cheap assaulter squad. I can see why you’d rather see it be part of the driver class. Perhaps the devs should play around with this concept.

The issue with that is the paratrooper squads are premium, not TT.

Fair point

The trucks are cool but I’m not sure they would make medics any better. Though I am definitely in flavor of more juicy targets rolling around.

Unless medics receive a battlefield style revive, doubt they will ever be a really good or heavily used squad.

What if the truck could be optional the way airborne deployment is?

Medic may be snubbed, but I do my job healing and reviving, as futile as it may seem

That option would be a good option. Medic II with a truck? A hybrid medic/ driver squad? Definitely the more squads/equipment, the better

People have been asking for medic boxes on APCs since the inclusion of ammo boxes on bikes. Maybe even before but I’m not sure. These trucks could definitely fill that role. But localhero is probably right in alluding to the fact that it may be better served as a driver class vehicle.

Either way these truck would be cool to see in Enlisted. Even if they were uncharacteristically labeled as “APCs”.

I’d like to see something like this as a part of a new mechanic, a bit like mixing RTS games and FPS. Yet I wish we had bigger playable areas and objectives from what we currently have, otherwise it’s wasted potential.

In the mean time I wish we could order all of our squad to replenish med kits and heal by clicking a med box. It’s something so simple but it’d be a big change.

My suggestion is to allow AI soldiers to self treat through medical boxs, which is enough.

Thank you for your post.

I have suggested this previously.

The Second World War was a mechanised war. Not sure why games dont recognise that.

Instead of stupid high BR heavy tanks that belong in War Thunder and jets, DF should focus on more infantry vehicles like trucks, ambulances, jeeps, bulldozers and so forth.

Ambulances would make Medics a mechanised class and therefore useful for transport. Likewise the idea of a mobile heal point would be very good, especially for dumb AIs that rarely heal themselves.

@LokalHero I disagree. We need more mechanised squads, not just the one APC class (which isnt even an APC).

To me the current APC would be the mechanised equivalent of a standard Rifleman squad.

Id like to see a Medic II with ambulance as suggested here.

A recon squad with M3 Scout Car, Daimler Dingo etc. Maybe that could be a ‘sniper’ based class but allow players to add an engineer and machine gunner as well for example.

Mobile engineers with a truck or halftrack that can tow AT or AA guns and resupplies engineer resources. Id suggest 2 or 3 ‘refills’ before its completely out. These squads would be able to construct Bailey bridges, larger sandbag fortifications and maybe small bunkers like the current MG nest but better protected.

Id also suggest this squad have the ability to, if so desired, take a bulldozer into battle to clear obstacles like towing tank hulks out of the way and pushing aside trees or general junk to make way for other vehicles and tanks.

All mechanised squads would have the ability to spawn without their vehicle if chosen as per current APC squad.

Rider class as has been mentioned many times should from BR II or III have a jeep with .30 cal, Kubelwagen with MG34, Gaz and Kurogane 95 etc.

Sounds interesting, but idk about commiting war crimes by shooting ambulances though
oy vey

Mobile engineers meaning a new soldier class? If so then that’s something that’s actually post worthy.

Agreed, especially when they can turn the premium jumbo with the bulldozer piece in the front into a proper bulldozer vehicle

Side note: hot take but flame tanks shouldn’t count as an actual tank slot, instead turn it into a rider vehicle or make light vehicles without proper tank cannons a category apart from medium/heavy tanks (which all should still count towards tank slots)

Tbh I don’t know if adding another vehicle is the way to go.
I’d just give medics revives (Squad44 style).

why isuzu, use this man

Very nice idea but not in radius function the players should go inside than they have max hp, for bots the radius whould be okay cuz they too dumb to giong in they even rarely heal them Selfs so far i noticed but yeah nice suggestion :+1:

I wouldn’t mind honestly. At the end of the day its at least just another way to get towards the objective faster.

This is true but only applies to BR1 then they become pretty useless especially when ranking up higher squads as lets face, most choose the other options than medic when levelling other squads. They should really be incorporated better in higher BRs.
