Give the 88mm flak truck actual timed HE

If Darkflow is unable to port the timed fuse mechanics from WT, then just have the HE shells automatically explode if they nearly miss a plane. This would significantly make the flak truck more potent as an anti-air tool, give it a valuable niche, and have more players consider purchasing it

Right now, the flak truck is essentially a tiger 1 with no armor or crew protection whatsoever and a faster reload, obviously trying to fight tanks without armor isn’t going be effective.

Premium vehicles should ideally either be powerful assets to use (paratroopers) or a fun niche to enjoy (flamethrower tanks) and currently the 88mm flak is neither powerful or fun.

Tbh I’d name it timed fuze but make it work like proxi fuze for the ease of use.

Well it’s already labeled as timed fuse ingame, HE-TF, except it doesn’t have any of that functionality

It has the AA heading mark.
You can Intercept whole bombing run if you’re skillful.
Or even kill paratrooper squad with one hit, I believe there’s some clip about it.

Exactly, this alone would make the AA truck actually amazing - being good vs planes, and if needed you work like indirect artillery / tank hunter.

Okay, shooting down AI controlled planes that fly in a straight line is not what I’m talking about. The Flak truck should be able to fight against player-controlled aircraft and from experience, trying to get a direct hit with an 88mm shell is not easy

With such low traverse/elevation gun speed. I can’t see it being effective against plane even with time fuse shells.

Hm… well you would need to participate an incoming attack for sure, but if a pilot manages to fly low enough to prevent being spotted easily, he kinda deserves to survive a strafe.
Dont forget, if such AA truck get at least a semi decent ability to fight off pilots, it would be more valuable than building AA guns, because of its bonus ability to fight ground targets rather well.

best & easiest to implement solution is the make the shells proximity fused with a large distance.
the higher the sky goes, the lower the air pressure, the less resistance explosion effects have, making their effective areas gigantic. so even a 88mm HE shell a few dozen m away from the target plane should at least insure it.

Its still an open topped vehicle, its vulnerable to everyone, I think it should get a decent edge with it. It would allow other nations to get similar vehicles with similar mechanics, like the Yag-10 for the soviets, and the British one, which the name eludes me atm.

I think a few dozen is a bit much, maybe within 12m it should insure it instead. Thats still a lot of wiggle room, I mean Ive shot down planes with a 75mm low velocity gun before, I think the 88 can handle getting within 12m

On one hand, I love this idea since having a vehicle with both impressive AA/AT capabilities would be a dream but on the other hand, if this was implemented, we would have yet another P2W premium vehicle since you can use slots for both AT and AA.

I don’t know if I would call it P2W considering how stupidly exposed the crew is to any and all kinds of fire from vehicles and infantry alike

If you’re using it for AA and sitting in the back, that’s 1 tank slot your team loses out on

If you’re using it for AT, a BR1 tank would kill the entire crew assuming you get the first shot off. Even then, any heavy machine guns or snipers can just kill the crew anyway

For both cases, enemy guerillas can just stroll right up and gun down the entire crew before they’re even able to exit the vehicle
