Give tanks points for acting as a shield for friendly infantry

Its been discussed a lot recently that tanks don’t have much reason to be up near their infantry and such. I would like to propose the idea to give them points for blocking incoming enemy fire. Similar to how a sandbag generates points, blocking bullets should give points to tanks as well. This way some of the heavier tanks can act as rolling cover for their infantry and get rewarded for it as well. After all, not all tanks are designed for long range support.

In addition, if there were teammates near the tank when an explosion went off nearby, and the tank shielded those allies from the explosion, it should get additional points for that.

Overall, the points added would be as such:
+5 for bullets blocked (generated within a certain time period rather than per bullet, just like how sandbags are)
+15 for explosives blocked (each explosive blocked gives points)

Hard to measure but worth a shot.

well historically speaking tanks generally speaking were supposed to stay behind the infantry and not the other way around, however there are exceptions to this. The British indeed used their tanks as mobile shields for infantry.

Also there are “break through tanks” like the Jumbo which were specifically designed to brake through the enemy lines, so it depends on “military doctrine” and vehicle type, however the vast majority of tanks were used as support vehicles.

pick up a infantry squad, plus press X in a allied tank.

if it is on agressive stance, they will be in the flanks.

if it is on passive stance they will be behind,

has long the tank give protection, he recive points.

I mean, they managed to get such a system for engineer built sandbags up and running, so why not.

True, y’know this can pair with a support allied vehicle command.

*Break-through, I think is what you mean. (I know English isn’t everyone’s first language here, but that had me confused when i read it at first.) These are especially what I mean, as there really isn’t much use in them otherwise. They don’t have the kind of firepower that things like the m8 Scott have but are designed to break through enemy lines. However, there really aren’t many “lines” to break through that require a tank in the game currently. There are almost no lines of fortifications that are completely resistant to infantry, mainly because all infantry can simply tear down fortifications. If that wasn’t the case, then the “break-through” tanks would actually have a lot more use.

That said, those bulky tanks with heavy armor would make excellent shields against the HMG fire that is coming in the “High Caliber” update. Since they will also have smoke rounds, they will be the optimal choice for that. They just need to be rewarded for filling that role, or most of them won’t even bother doing it.
