Many times you are running forward to the next point but your own squad is unable to keep up with the player for some reason or another.
If the bots could get a small speed boost once they are futher than 20m away from the player it would help bots to limit the max distance between the player and their squad or even to catch up again.
To stop a sudden change in speed I would suggest to make the speed boost scale up in intensity eighter by increased distance or time spend outside of the permisable radius until the maximum effect is accieved.
if they have speed perk could be good too…
Ok I hear you.
Couple of questions:
- Speed boost based on what? Your basic sprint?
- What happens if I use the sprint perk? Higher boost?
- What if I use a Saber and a sprint perk?
I get your point, totally. Me personally I think it’s annoying to have bots miles away as it doesn’t give me the opportunity to continue the assault on the line directly. On the other hand my bots are at a save distance so I can re-evaluate the situation and try to flank.
All in all:
Hot topic which is discussed constantly internally. Sometimes you run, but bots get stuck. Ok that’s the worst case. Sometimes you run through enemy lines like captain spears but your bots are taking fire or just get into the new line of fire whereas you were fast enough to go through. In this case you can choose your squad setup such as “Stealth”. Imho not enough but yet.
Bots are created to react and they do.
Yet, I am not entirely satisfied. No one is completely.
My idea is to just apply a like 10% (can still be changed based on testing) speed boost modifier on every for of movement by a bot to far away from the player. So the bot would still retain all the perks they have that affects their speed+ another 10% affecting the final speed.
This would allow bots to possibly run faster than players are allowed once they got slowed down by bad parthing.
This might be the biggest drawback to this suggestion as someone chould make a designated runner with all speed boost perks to charge ahead and use this mechanic to invalidate the need to use speed perks to the rest of the squad but that might just be a new strategy as you still have to keep the runner alive for the bots to catch up or they lose the boost once the runner is dead.
Yes but if you give that perk to everyone you are faster futher away aswell, which kinda nullifies the effect of the perk.
The player way more efficient in their parthing around obstacles so he will always be faster than their squad should they have the same speed as bots cant catch up while the player is running aswell but only lose distance due to bad parthing.
