As an engineer main, it gets very frustrating when I put up fortifications for people to use and cover me while I move forward to set up more fortifications that will help our team (ammo boxes, sandbags, barbwire, czech hedgehogs, etc.) and so many people run right past it just to get mowed down right in front of it (due to no cover, which I am attempting to install for them).
Give us the option to tell our AI to jump on an MG nest with the same range as they would have with a normal rifle. Its still going to be less effective than an actual player making use of it in MOST cases, but gives engineers the option they need to set up more fortifications in a dangerous area.
Similar to the MG nests, it seems rather odd that an engineer can build two AA turrets at a time, but only operate one. Giving us the option to tell our squad to run one while we run the other could help make AA more effective, which in many instances I’ve experienced is very necessary. I’ve had many times where I land numerous hits with the AA but they plane keeps going like nothing happened.
The AI controlled one wouldn’t have the range that the player controlled one would, but would still be useful against divebombers.
Keep in mind that squad members will still cancel the order if the player gets too far away from them. Meaning that you can’t just leave them on the gun while you move across the entire map. You would still have to remain close to them.
