Give a counter to destroyed tank wrecks

gastanofrizzi reminds me that there is a problem with enemy tank wrecks being used as ultimate fortification tool.
Due to rock-paper-scissors mechanic - we need a way to counter it.
IMHO we should be able to either tow it with our tanks/APCs or completely destroy it with explosive damage.

I like the wreckage
Because it can’t be damaged at all
But there are almost no people who can take advantage of this mechanism and successfully create a perfect defense point.
So there is no need to adjust

It’s great in very open maps

I do, and I win most matches when I do - its cancerous and extremely broken.

dont hate the player hate the game, if more people do it, it will get fixed eventually

Well I have previously suggested bulldozers be added to the game. They were used on D Day and especially in the Pacific.
As we add more vehicles to the game such as APCs the amount of junk on maps is becoming even more annoying.
It is quite difficult to drive and park APCs at times as a combination of poor coding (like getting stuck on trenches and tiny mole hills that shouldnt happen), plus all the junk stopping you from moving.

There’s also cases when youve got generated tank hulls and then player tank hulls (destroyed) that are all wedged together so a road or bridge or whatever becomes completely impassable and theres no way to fix it.

So my contribution to your idea is keep the tank wrecks (they are good cover for infantry), but allow engineers (maybe engineer II?) to choose to spawn with bulldozers or similar equipment depending on the nation which would allow people to clear paths, push/pull things out of the way.

Personally I think it would be great clearing a path like in real life to make it easier for friendly tanks and APCs to get to the front, or even remove obstacles such as trees to create new paths to objectives/flank enemy etc.

I dont agree with blowing up tank hulks. That doesnt really make sense.

The only complaint Ive had against bulldozers is "who would want to do that?'.
My response is that AA can be boring and supposedly pointless but in both cases it helps the team and ultimately its up to players.
I know for myself Id happily spawn in a bulldozer certainly if there were specific obstacles preventing my team from progressing.

Engineer dismantle? Not entirely unrealistic. I don’t find wrecked vehicles to be too hig of a hassle, but some maps (particularly the more urban ones) I can absolutely see how it could become a serious detriment to attackers.

But at the same time they can be an advantage for attackers since they can use them as shields as they make their way to the point

I agree. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they should be nearly entirely impenetrable. Dont get me wrong, engineer dismantle isn’t perfect either, but there aren’t too many balanced alternatives.

Vehicle wrecks despawning over time seems pretty lame. Wrecks can be utilized by attackers or defenders to provide valuable cover and concealment to otherwise highly exposed areas, so having them randomly disappear isn’t necessarily inherently beneficial for either team. Especially if the vehicle wasn’t hindering player movement at all.

Blowing the wrecks to smithereens is highly unrealistic, depending on the vehicle wreck, and the explosion would be just as likely to level a small building/create a new pond as it would be to dissappear any heavily armored vehicle. Not to mention the kill radius of that mini-nuke…

Towing is certainly an option, but not a particular viable one under most circumstances. If there’s a blockade of destroyed tanks preventing your push that probably means there is something destroying tanks in that area. Also making it highly unlikely you’ll have time to hook up to a destroyed tank with a tow cable and finaggle a burning wreck out of your way, since whatever got them is about to get you as well.

It would also help if vehicle damage had a more realistic effect on vehicle movement. Just because a tank is “destroyed” doesn’t mean it’s incapable of movement. It’s even possible for the dead driver of a holed tank to continue accelerating after having been turned to mist from the waist up. I’m now reminded of the infamous Holland crossroad scene from “Band of Brothers” where Denver Randleman is nearly run over by a burning, knocked out Sherman after the Sherman is hit and destroyed with the transmission still in drive.

And, even without being ghost-driven, as long as the vehicle was knocked out while the transmission was in drive it should be fairly easy for another similarly sized vehicle to push it forward. Likewise, a vehicle knocked out while in reverse should be easy to tow backwards.

The wrecks from destroyed player tanks are a piece of cake compared to the immovable wrecks planted by default on the maps. The fact that an early version of Pz III is completely blocking even an IS-2 or a Kingtiger gives a horrendous game experience. I mean, there are other map objects anyway that are destructible or pushable, why not do this with the tank wrecks? Obvious solution, they should be movable just like the destroyed players’ vehicles.

well I guess it should simply be much easier to move those around, why dont the devs add a towing mechanic like in warthunder?
