It’s a rather old problem for gaijiggles, but here we go again…
Just had a match of invasion as german attacker team. After we took the first point we ran into the problem: somewhere deep in the enemy grey area there was a tank raining HE on our spawn. Only option to not get killed after the 10 sec protection was to run out, either towards said tank or onto a street with no cover for us but plenty for the enemy infantry.
Our troops got decimated by a Jumbo that was so far behind I had to sneak aroun the entire open map just to get the marker on him. (Which also took a while, because infantry)
In the meantime he prob racked up 50 - 60 kills with 75 mm HE and MG. Trying to get him with my Pz.III was impossible as well because I couldn’t even flank him while he stood on his spawn.
Suggestion: Create a safe spawning area where you can’t be damaged and not damage anyone as well. Camping in gray area would be useless for shooting anyone but you also can’t be killed instantly 11 seconds after spawning. Might also help against straight deleting squads near their spawn with bombs/rockets.
Also set open up maps further for Invasion mode. Jumping from spawn to hot zone in just 15 meters really sucks. You can’t even get a somewhat safe passage to a different entry route - whoch just enables spawn killing.
If I read your post correctly, you’re no stranger to WT and Gaijin’s view on spawn killing.
I suspect Enlisted is no different and if you’re getting spawn killed its because the team has failed. This is certainly the prevalent view in WT after 9 years of that game.
Effectively players need to learn how to balance map domination, closing off flanks and lateral avenues of approach vs ensuring that there is enough mass to attack the objectives. Generally the more experienced players are left to hold the flanks as they will have a better understanding of maps and the broader situational context of what I’m writing about.
There is no other solution other than educating the players to constantly refer to the mini map and try to understand the overall situation. This goes across things like engineering squads moving up before the assault teams to prepare spawn points, set up AT guns and prepare fall back positions in both Defence and attack.
Gaijin devs are already trying to support this game play by looking at how the engineer earns XP for example. Ultimately it all comes back to what the Devs have envisioned as constituting productive activity for each squad type and rewarding them accordingly. However, these interactions are complex and it will take time.
So next time you log in, let the new players play the rush, run and gun game, and you take post on the flank to set up the appropriate defences or deny the flankers from infiltrating into your spawn area.
Hmm sucks, but your team failed hard. I guess you might not be a premium user and thus cannot choose to run plane and tank. Bombing works wonders for such issues as tanks in grey zone. But I see all to often that players fail to coordinate attacks to take out armor or airplanes, if they are causing a problem I or the friends I play with have to kill the bomber or tank.
A normal game for me is 5-10 tank and airplane kills.
I’d prefer to get rid of the root of this problem. Enemies camping out in inaccessible areas are bullshit. Both teams should have the same combat area.
We got access to planes and tanks (one vehicle squad per team member only) without premium. Personally I find it hard to spot tanks hiding between trees and buildings with a plane. I guess the other folks ran into the same issue. I tried getting him with my tank, but matchmaking was in my way. I was facing a Jumbo (front only, because he camped in the grey area) with a Pz.III which can barely even penetrate the sides of the fatty. Same issue for the rest of the team. Eventually a bomber got him after I kept him marked for a solid 1.5 minutes. Mind you, marking him wasn’t even possible from a decent distance because of bushes.
In short: Facing the Jumbo before getting a tank that can at least get weak spots is a nightmare, and them camping in their safe zone makes it almost impossible to kill him.
The fact that you have to rely on paying for a premium to have access to a plane at all times (and not just any plane either) to use as a last resort against getting spawn killed which is an actual failure in game design is failure on part of the game design and the team who designed it.
No, you can have a plane all the time, but then you can’t use a tank. Its your choice. If I wasn’t a premium player I would use a plane. Now 99% of the playerbase can’t fly, so that’s another issue.
There are few situations where a tank is better. Normandy on the beaches for the allies are one. Its simple, planes kill troops, tanks and other aircraft. Tanks kill troops and tanks (if you are lvl 20) On Moscow campaign I hardly use tanks.
Use right mouse button and zoom in when your are surveying the area. I normally look for tracers from the tank MG or main gun(Dust, shockwave and flash when they fire). But yeah sometimes they are hard to spot.
Right mouse button is so important with the short draw distance we have in the air. It wont draw enemy aircraft, tanks, tracers and troops on the ground if you don’t use it
