Having medics be the de facto assaulter 1 class is not at all helpful in the Pacific and Stalingrad campaigns.
The function and role of medics aren’t unique or powerful enough to warrant their own squad as well as supplant the Assaulter 1 squads in Pacific and Stalingrad.
Give riflemen the ability to equip medic bags as an option. Just remove the ability to equip grenade launchers, and vice-versa.
Medics need their own dedicated squads or slots whereas riflemen can be introduced to every squad, allowing you access to their abilities seamlessly without restructuring every squad, and gives riflemen a flexible niche as either grenadiers or medics.

I begrudgingly use Medics as proto assaulters but true Assaulters are more of the class I want on the frontline of battle and Medics are better off as a support class like the Engineers, Radio, Mortar, etc. A lot of times I don’t even bother healing my team because I’m in the Assaulter headspace. This is a consequence of Medics replacing Assaulters in Stalingrad and the Pacific. Class really does influence play style
At least with the new system ideally we should go back to having plenty of Assaulters and Medics

Yeah it really stinks how you can’t remove the medical bag and are forced to have a low ammo assaulter squad. That is why I just use the medic squad with bolt actions.
I actually like it the way it is. It keeps people from just having grenade spam assaulters right away, plus the medical supplies can really help.
As far as weaponry, I like that they get SMGs to push back enemies from downed teammates that you can then save. I’ve done this many times. Other weapon option should be shotgun. Which despite people thinking that they are bad, I actually do very well with them.

One of the reasons why I bought a premium assaulter squad in Stalingrad(Naval infantry PPSh) as I don’t want medics since they cannot carry ammo pouches like regular assaulters.

After the merge most squads will have slots for medics.

Nope. Dev already made plenty of models for medic. And they wont going to let it go so easily.

you can still use those models.
just exchange the class into troopers rather than assaulters.
i don’t think it’s necessarely a bad nor a hard decision to do.
good idea, and with this we could finally bring in an extra depth of detail, such as soldiers screaming ‘‘medic’’ when they’re wounded or downed
What? Medics are cool, even if they are not super useful. They just need more XP rewards so that players are incentivized to use them.
I will agree it doesn’t make sense to take up the assaulter slot, but when the merge happens it won’t matter anymore and medics will be available in all factions.

The AI automatically healing players was a pretty big step in the right direction.

I honestly think a really good addition would be for friendly AI to automatically pick up medkits from the box as they pass near it. If they are at full health, they just get the extra one. If they are not, they automatically use one when they are not being actively shot at, and refill it from the box.
Each troop doing this would yield an assist worth 18 points. I feel that change alone would make them worth it, not just in terms of points, but as well as usefulness on the field.

Complicate AI pathfinding to make a class that doesn’t already work with the present system marginally work slightly better?
You’re too optimistic.
