…Volkswagen Swimwagen used by Nazi Germany during World War II in 1942. Volkswagen Type 166 in the press photo, also known as Swimwagen, shows canvas top and engine cover open. Schimwagen was a unique amphibious car, very popular among those who got it during the war. It had a smooth bottom, boat-shaped body and a propeller at the back. It was operated by a rear-mounted air-cooled boxer engine.
