The Walther P38 has a faster reload, is lighter, but is otherwise identical to the Luger P08. Why is the Luger now more than twice the price? Cool factor?
I mean, yeah, okay, If that’s the reason, guess that’s reasonable. The Luger P08 was a really neat design, if somewhat outdated in 1938. Just seems odd, is all.
I also think it’s funny that the Mauser C96 is so good in this game. It was a good design, in 1896. It was obsolescent in 1914, and totally obsolete by 1938.
Not to minimize it’s cool factor. Which is off the charts.
Most of the obsolescence of C96 came from its construction and ergonomics, which in games is not a problem compared to real life. Also, due to all pistols being 2-3 body shots to kill, having 2 extra bullets really makes it superior compared to the rest of TT pistols as in ideal situation it allows for extra kill, though it has extreme damage fall-off compared to P08 and P38, but it matters little, as you usually don’t shoot long range with pistols.
Still, though, I prefer P38 to the other two, as C96 has bad reload animation and P08 toggle is distracting.
