and just to counter the statements above, hero awards in battle are usually awarded to brave soldiers. despite their victory or defeat. plus, iron crosses were given during d-day invasion.

I’m not naive, i know the war wasn’t black and white in a lot of aspects but the German imprisoned, killed, tortured and enslaved millions of people in the pursuit of world domination and their ethno state.

The Germans troops in world war 2 were the embodiment of Orcs from the LOTR serious.
If they want to add a German hero, add someone who disobeyed orders to save lives, or one of the people who tried to assassinate Adolf.
I believe only around 20% of Germans were official members of the Nazi party, and you have to remember the Germans were bombarded constantly with propaganda. When they invaded Poland the regular troopers really believed it was to save ethnic German lives,and that Poland was attacking German border security.

Most German soldiers where just dudes serving their country. The are soldiers just as the US had soldiers. To say otherwise shows a clear lack of any understanding on how wars are faught and you clearly lack the understanding to place yourself in the shoe of a random German of that age. I would state that if you me or 99% of the people on this forum lived in ww 2 Germany we would be fighting on the front for our country.
