Is their any way to get certain battles like D-day and normandy battles? Is it down to what i have researched or what battle rating because im not sure how it works 
You cant select maps, campaigns are random based on selected nation and battle rating.

The above picture is your best reference for now. At least until the long-awaited Preferred Maps System is introduced (no ETA on that for now though).

Nope. The player base shut down any potential of that when they overwhelmingly asked for BR’s instead
